    temporary relief from itching

Is there anything I can use to temporarily relieve my puppy's itching.  He had a site reaction to K-9 Advantix and keep trying to bite/scratch the spot where it was applied.  I talked to the vet and he said we needed to switch him to Frontline and to watch to see if it gets worse.  It hasn't but I'd like to give him a little relief.  Any suggestions?

I think bathing would help; you could ask your vet for recommendations but be sure to use a gentle shampoo. Benedryl would also be a good idea, just ask your vet for the right dosage.

I hope you will report your dogs reaction to Advantix.  Its very important that all reactions to all drugs are reported.    I hope your dog doesn't have a problem with Frontline,,but I would be very careful about that also.

My dog had a reaction to Hartz flea medicine. The spot where it was applied was bright red and itchy for her. The emergency vet told me to use Dawn dish soap because it will cut through and remove the oil left on the dog from the medicine. It really did work.

That Dawn must be some powerful stuff! I have a paper that says to mix it with some water and put on your steps in the winter (in the cold states where we have snow) and they should not freeze up. I bought it and tried it but at the end of last year so don't know if it worked or not.
