    Best flea control

What is everyone's opinion, what works best for fleas? there are so many out there and since it is that time of year again I have to decide what to use. Thanks in advance.

I keep Frontline on hand, just in case, but used absolutely NONE last summer and very little the previous summer when I still lived in Coastal GA, one of the flea capitols of the world.  I find that dogs on an excellent diet, with healthy immune systems are far less attractive to fleas than those who are less well fed.

I like Frontline Plus (it's waterproof) if your pouch like to play in the water.

I personally like and use Advantage or Advantix.  I also use Sentinuel (monthly heartworm pill) which includes Program.   Program keeps the flea population under control.

    Hello [:)]

If you want to know what works best in scientific trials, then it depends. Complete Flea protection is best achieved with Frontline, whereas the best protection as measured by egg count/month you get with Sentinel (a tablet that also provides protection against all the usual worm diseases). K9 Advantix works just fine also.

    Hope that helps [:)]

(personally I use Sentinel btw.. and something additional against ticks only like 2 months of the year, as early summer is the only time they are a real danger)

HI.  I am a dog breeder., and have been for twelve years.  Two years ago, we had an outbreak of fleas--yuck!!  That was the first time ever.  We hae so many dogs that going to a vet would kill us financially, so we tried over the counter methods---MANY, MANY, MANY types.  Eventually we did ge rid of them, but the next spring, guess what?  They were back.  Again we tried everything, but they just kept returning.  They'd only be gone for 1-2 weeks and they'd be back.  I finally broke down and bought Frontline Plus.  I treated all of my dogs and the few stray cats we have around (the ones we could catch anyway.)  We had puppies on the ground that were too young to treat, but it said it was safe to treat pregnant and nursing moms.  So we did.  Within a week, they were all gone!!  I swear by this stuff.  We didn't even have to treat our whole house (for the 100th time).  It kills them from the dog's beds and living quarters too.  Now we treat them all every month, and haven't seen a flea on about a year.  We buy the six packs of extra large dog packs, and CAREFULLY measure and apply the correct amount onto each dog according to his/her weight, including the cats.  It is the same formula used in all weight packages, and for dogs and cats.  We had previously tried the over-the-counter types of "spot-on" flea treatments, but ne of them worked.  We actually cought the packages that we have on e-Bay!!  Saved money that way too.  Good luck.
