    Pregnant Pom has Fleas

What can i use to get rid of the fleas on my pregnant pom...she is biting herself to death?

Bath her with any regular dog shampoo and leave the suds on her for a few minutes.  Then rinse her good.  Take her out of the tub and use a flea comb to go over her again to remove any leftover fleas.

THEN you have to treat the house.  Fleas only spend a short amount of time on the dog.  They will be everywhere she was - the house, the yard, your car (if she goes in there).

Your best bet is to see if your vet sells flea products for treating the house and yard.

Q: Is Capstar safe? A: Capstar has a remarkable safety profile. No adverse reactions were reported in controlled studies with exposures up to 10 times the recommended dose. It is safe for pregnant and nursing animals.

    I agree with Lauri's suggestions.

I would NOT use anything on the dog or in the house without first clearing it with the vet.  But you MUST get these fleas under control and fast because they can easily KILL the pups.

i was actually at my local feed store a few weeks ago buying flea meds and there was one there that was all natural and it says you can use on cats, dogs, puppies, kittnes at any age.  I bought it for my cats actually and it worked great.  Sorry i dont remeber the name off hand but it was supposed to be able to use on
pregnant and nursing dogs.   hope u find something that will work.

The thing i liked about it that you didnt have to get the coat wet...  it has a lot of water in it and was really easy to soap the coat and then you just had to leave on for a few mins and rinse off.   It really did the trick and then i treated the house.

    good luck!
