Loss

I just recently lost my Whippet, his name was Tazio! and he was just the most magnificiant dog ever! He got very very sick and stopped eating all together about a month before. Then he started getting better, which we thought was just the best thing! but unfortunetly he started getting worse and worse. Then finally one day we saw that he wasnt moving around much and had turned yellow. his eyes, stomach, ears. Soon to learn he had a really bad liver. But it was really sad, we had to put him down that day, which was unexpected, and just heartbreaking! He was the best dog!!

I am sorry to heart about your loss. That is such a hard decision to have to make and I have had to make it twice, both times with irish setters. Is that him in the avatar? That is handsome dog, those huge eyes! Again, I am sorry for your loss.

I am very sorry to hear about your sweet Tazio also! Its so heartbreaking!
There is a fellow that lives on the next street from me that has two whippets...they are cousins I believe he said..a boy and a girl named Lucy. I can't remember the boys name. But he found out not long after getting them both that the boy has an enlarged heart and is now on lots of medication. He siad he has no idea what will happen or how long he will live. The vet told him that he should not do anything different than he would with the other dog, nothing is going to really keep him alive any longer so he should let this little boy be a happy dog and run and play just like his cousin Lucy. This fellow is hoping that maybe one day the dog will just die in his sleep and not have to see him get sick and have to make a decision to put him down. I guess this is all part of having a dog...its so sad.
How old was Tazio? If that is him in your picture he is just beatiful!

Very sorry to hear your sad news. It's heartbreaking to make the decision you did...but it was a decision made from love. You'll be in my thoughts.

Sandra_slayton: Yes that is Tazio in my avitar!! Thank you! yeah he was a very handsom dog!
dyan: Aww that is so sad!! dang thats heart breaking to think that. But Tazio was around 14 or 15 years old. So he was an older dog. And yes again that is him in my picture! Thank you so much!
