What kind of brush should I be using?

I have a cockapoo.  His hair is on the wavy to curly side.  I was wondering what kind of brush/comb(s) should I be using?  I have a brush which I use 1st on him then I use the metal comb.  Should I be using something else for his type of coat.

Is he matted or tangled?  Are you happy with the way his coat is?  Because it sounds like you already know what you're doing.  I would recommend the same exact thing:  A metal comb and a brush...

I would think that the Chris Christensen 7 1/2" coarse/fine tooth comb would be ideal...They also make a poodle comb which is all coarse.  As far as a brush, I don't know...Chris C has some nice pin brushes on their site and slickers, too.

Just make sure you spray him with water or grooming spray when you brush so you don't cause hair breakage.  Pin brushes with round ball tips are a no-no.  Other than that, just use whatever works and makes him look nice to you/ keeps him tangle free.

Looks as if you have got the right idea for grooming your dog.
I must admit I haven't used a dog brush for many years, just various good quality stainless round teeth combs. Actually I don't use a brush for my hair either :)
Chows, Springers or my Cavalier, all were/are easily tidied up with combs.
