My French Bulldog Killed a cat in front of my own eyes!

Honestly, due to a horrific incident, I'm pretty shaken up at the moment. My french bulldog killed a cat (street cat). I tried to stop her, yet she wont listen. I even kicked her -- to let go of the cat -- but she just kept on biting the cat until the poor thing died! I've never seen her this aggressive before :When my dog (Erykah) woke up the next day, she started limping. I'm really concerned about this incident. I'm taking to her to a vet today. French Bulldogs are really good with kids, however, I'm really worried now. I've always had this impression that she was a sissy dog. She's so friendly and adorable! She's really good with humans, plays with complete strangers.and rarely barks. By the way, this happened in my front-yard. What would you recommend to PREVENT this from happening again?

my two boxers are the same great with kids and other dogs. but if a cat come into back yard it a goner  they got quite a tidy number over last 4 years, i still trust them around kids. must be in the genes hunt and the chase, i would not try and break the fight up would only take i swipe with a paw and your dog  badly hurt. my two got their war wounds but i been lucky. did take them around to friend house who had a cat and tried to get them to be friends with the cat that seen to work they just followed it around but did not hurt it, but they still get cats that come onto backyard.  french bulldogs are small and  not that fast could take a bit of a beating if you are not careful
