confused about my puppies bathroom habits

Hi every 1. I have been looking for a doggy forum as my bf and myself  recently got ourselves a puppy. I have had dogs before but many years have passed since my last dog and it was not a puppy. I actually have never had a puppy, so I am kinda new at puppy training. She is doing very well with the housebreaking and knows the difference between going out an having accidents in the house.  I have noticed something strange lately though about her urinating. Every hour she has to urinate, when I 1st got her she was able to hold it longer. If I dont take her out she pees on the rug and knows she did something wrong. Can dogs manipulate us to take them out? I was also thinking she has a urinary tract infection. This peeing every hour started happening soon after she was spayed. What are the symptoms of a female dog having a urinary tract infection?   Thank you for reading in advance

Take her to the vet so they can check for a UTI.   Puppies often have accidents but it's rarely because they are trying to be manipulative.  The concept of not going to the bathroom inside is not something dogs understand. She doesn't understand that it's wrong. She understands people get upset when she has an accident. Don't punish for accidents and clean up any place she's gone with something like Nature's Miracle.

Depending on her age, it may take many more months for her to be fully housetrained. Accidents are the fault of the owner for not supervising closely.

Here's a good article that might serve as a refresher course.

thank you very much JackieG for your comment I was thinking about taking her to the vet for this just to be on the safe side and your comment kinda helped me with that decision.. I didnt think that puppies urinate so often especially since it has gotten worse since we got her. I do no its my fault as I am not reading the signs when she wants to go out.. Thanks once again

You're welcome. I hope she checks out fine at the vet. Something else I wanted to mention is that some puppies will over drink. They seem to love the idea of drinking.  Restricting water isn't good but watch to see if she seems to be drinking more than seems normal for her size.  Another tip is to pick up her water a few hours before her bedtime. Good luck. She'll figure it out with some help from you. :)

Hi, I totally agree with Jackie, thanks so much for the great help. When in doubt don't ever be afraid to take them to the vet, always better to be safe than sorry.
