    Water![:D]

I don't have a Shih-tzu, but I wash dozens of them successfully with Coat-handler shampoo/conditioner.  Shihs, along with Lhasa-apsos, are the most common breed in my shop.  For sensitive skin or badly mated coats, I use Bark to Basics Oatmeal shampoo, and de-mat conditioner.  Both brands have great dilution rates (15:1), and are tearless, hypoallergenic, enviromentally friendly, and rinse-out easily.  I've never had an owner report a skin reaction when I used these products.  All of them smell great (I am tempted to eat the oatmeal one all the time[:D]), and leave the dog squeaky-clean, and exceptionally soft.  And I get free s/h when I order eight gallons of one, or both of them!  I order [linkhttp://www.groomerschoice.com]here[/link]

I also use the wild berry/whitening/flea & tick shampoo as well.  I really like these two lines of products!

I bathe Trudy with Solid Gold shampoo and conditioner. I have used it for years and love it.

For flowing coated breeds I love Plush Puppy - the evening primrose oil shampoo, and the Reviva Coat foam.  [sm=happy.gif]
In my grooming shop, for Tzus which are clipped, I like Espree Silky Show shampoo, or Tropiclean Kava (great brightener!).  It's fun to experiment and try products out. :)

Solid Gold is nice.  Usually when I groom Nikki (which is only when she comes to visit now), its some type of nice smelly doggy shampoo (I love Crazy dog scents as well) and a conditioner.  Expecially if they are kept long haired, I like a nice deep conditioning treatment every now and then on top of regular conditioner.

I have about half a dozen of shampoo brands lol.  I have a doggy shampoo buying habit.  It's mostly cured now since I no longer live with a dog, but I'm sure I'll revisit it again once we get our pup!

Oh and for snarls and tangles "The Stuff" works wonders.

    Hi :)

I use all the Coat Handler products on my Shih Tzu, also. :)

I use the 15:1 Clarifying Shampoo, every 8 shampoos (I bathe her approx every 10 days to 2 weeks).  On all the other bathing times, I use the 5:1 Maintenance Shampoo. No matter what shampoo I use, I ALWAYS use the Coat Handler Conditioner (hands down the best conditioner I've ever used for her coat). I also always follow up with the Coat Handler Detangler (it's the best grooming spray I've ever used on her coat).

I always add in 1/4 c of distilled white vinegar to her bath water (along with the Coat Handler Conditioner -- which I use as a "leave in").

**sometimes, I'll use Neem Shampoo instead of the Coat Handler shampoos. It leaves her coat very smooth and soft, just as the CH shampoo does, but it also has the added benefit of being a natural insect repellant. I use the same as above conditioning products (CH Conditioner and Detangler, and vinegar) also when using the Neem shampoo. If I'm using only CH products during a bathing, I'll then add some Neem oil to the rinse water (along with the regular other products). **
