Cujo had his surgery

    Cujo had his surgery

He did fairly well during. They told me his heart and breathing started to become irregular so they decided after removing both eyes that he had had enough and did not do the dental cleaning. This was done on the 11th, he came home that night and though he looks freaky he is doing great. He is playful and getting into trouble. It's pretty clear he already feels better than he did. AWW. I don't know your story, but I'm glad he came through ok. Poor thing.

I am glad to hear he is feeling better!  And I'm sure it is a relief for you to have this over!  You will get used to the way he looks and it won't be so freaky.

It sure is a relief! He is handling it better than me. Not sure i will be rescheduling the dental cleaning any time soon. As for his looks.. He is beautiful to me. I will be glad when the stitches are gone and the hair grows back. Right now he scares small children

I know this was a hard decision for you, now watching him adapt so well so soon after, I suspect this helps you cope with the situation.

Don't know the details re the dental cleaning; can you deal with that by giving him sliced raw sweet potato to gnaw on?  This helps remove plaque / tartar build up.  I wouldn't start brushing his teeth just now, he's had enough 'new' stuff happening.  You can also try Pet Life gel that has been helpful with my flock of fluffs.

Sending healing vibes for Cujo.  It's always harder on us humans than the dogs.  I'm sure it was a shock to see after the surgery even if you think you're prepared.

I understand only too well -- when we had to have Muffin's ears removed (inner/middle/outer ear -- NOT the ear flap) --- It was SO hard for me. **HOWEVER** once I saw how much better he felt - you could SEE on his face he was in less pain. We'd always just thot he was very stoic so it came as a big shock to see him pain-free!!

I'm glad Cujo came through the surgery well and I hope the rest of his recovery is smooth and rapid.  I'm sure it's odd to see him look so different, but like others said, if he's feeling much better, you'll be able to focus on that and see that he adjusts to this very well.  Give him some cuddles from me!

Cujo is doing great! He is playful and energetic and starting to get into things :) I just was told he got into the garbage and tore stuff up. That pleases me way too much lol. I will have to watch it or he will become a spoiled brat. His stitches haven't dissolved and he has a few more days of antibiotics, but he is doing wonderful.

After Muffin had his ear ablation surgery somehow I came home from the vet with a PUPPY!!! At the age of SIX he became a total chewing terror!! Somehow it translated to him "WOW -- now I can CHEW and it doesn't HURT!!!" - in the years we'd had him he never chewed anything inappropriate. Suddenly !!! boy howdy -- it was insane. I came home one day to find that he had chewed a SIX FOOT HOLE (circular - he laid in the middle and literally just ate his way in a circle) of a brand new Vellux blanket. SIX FEET across on a King sized bed!

Because he COULD now ... because it had apparently always hurt his jaw!!

So now **you** have a dog being led by his nose!! He's not shut down all day because his head hurts -- trust me - you'll see more!! Suddenly he investigated the trash cos ... wow -- there is all sorts of different stuff in there!!

I'm happy to hear that Cujo is doing so well and even being a little mischievous!  Smile
