these folks like their toys
I will also readily admit to being a bit skeptical when I see a smaller vet practice find a need for a laser tool. Some may specialize but I had a vet take serious advantage of me once about 13 years ago. He had bought a new laser (and even referred to it as a "toy" in front of staff) and then he dreamed up surgeries to use it that really weren't necessary nor workable. I knew he had trouble keeping staff, but later I found out that they left in droves just because he was THAT BAD of a vet. (not clean, bad surgical practices, etc.) So now any time I evaluate carefully the vet & practice & how they charge and market their services.
I left there with a dog with ruined ears because the guy literally was such a poor vet.
Surgery cost/prep should be a reflection of what is really going to happen and it should be similar in price to what's reasonable and customary elsewhere near you -- so to honestly decide this you're going to have to compare it to other vet practices that are in the area.
