pus from eyes

    pus from eyes

My 21 month old golden has been getting pus balls from both tear glands for the past week or so.  I don't know if it is just allergies or what.  We feed her Wellness and also meat, carrots etc on top of it.  But, she has been stealing the dried cat food I found out!  Otherwise she is energetic, healthy, shiny coat, no loose stools or anything like that.  Just wakes up with puss eyes and they both continue to weep throughout the day.

     Any ideas or suggestions?

    thanks!

Both my hound girls get this to some extent this time of year. It's all the pollen around. I simply keep them clean and if it's really bad I give them a benadryl dose appropriate to their weight. I also keep some eye ointment around and if need be I use that as well. They don't sneeze or itch, just too much pollen in those eyes for them to handle. It's a greeny yellow stuff and usually but the time summer comes, it's long gone.

I'm concerned you are using the word "pus" and "tear glands" -- If it is PUS and not your typical goopy allergy eyes I would be at the VET in a nanosecond!!

PUS from the tear glands is not at all normal and could indicate deep infection.

Typical gooey allergy eyes is, at least to me, something different.  But if it's pus -- man I'd be at the vet in a heartbeat.
