Teddi Update - Good News, Bad News but not awful news

Well first the good news. New pictures of her right elbow, and Dr Desjardin did not see ANY sign of elbow dysplasia. It was inconclusive with the previous picture. There was 'something' but what that something was.... That was the opinion of three other vets. Her hips looked fine too, but I expected that.

So the bad news is....why IS Teddi limping? She was poked, prodded, stretched, flexed, not one time did she flinch or say ouch. Her range of motion was very good on both legs, however maybe 'slightly' less on the left (she is sore on the right). Dr D said there was some "pops" in her shoulder but did not think that meant anything. He is an EXCELLENT ortho so I trust him. Teddi was EXTREMELY sore yesterday after the appointment.

So we are back to the drawing board. I plan to have MSU send her radiographs to my vet, and I will see when I can get Teddi in there. I am hoping she can go in with Gabby next Wed. I am restricting Teddi around the house in the mean time. I am not crating her. I gated her in the back bedroom area, she has the dog beds to sleep on or the extra bedroom (carpeted) she has choices, and access to water. I have instructed my dog walkers to put her out by herself AFTER the other dogs have been out and Quinn and Gabby are back in their crates. I do not want Teddi doing stairs when I am not there. If she gets wild outside, I will leash her but usually it takes another dog to get her going. I am hoping it is soft tissue. Dr D says to try physical therapy, I do know where I can take her not "too" far. They have an underwater treadmill and pool. She likes to swim. However I feel we need to know the area we are treating.

Hope I can get her sound and able to go to the Bridget Carlsen seminar. I know soft tissue can take a while to heal, if that is what it is. If she is not significantly better in 3 weeks without drugs, I will scratch her from the seminar.

I'm glad to hear they don't see any elbow dysplasia.  Hopefully this is a soft tissue injury.  Complete rest is so tough but if you can do it, it will help determine if that's truly what's going on with her limp.  Sounds like you have a good plan to keep her from aggravating it and I hope that does the trick.

Sounds like a great idea!!!  I hope Teddi is starting to feel better...such a difficult thing to deal with!  Perhaps some chamomile tea might take the edge off for him!

    Good luck.

Ann I'm just seeing this - good news about the dysplasia and her hips - hopefully a bit of rest will have her limp-free again soon!
