    Hiccups

Bugsy has been getting very brief bouts of hiccups for a while now (feels like about two weeks).  Its not everyday, there is no discernible pattern - although he does seem to get them in the morning more than other times.

They are severe hiccups and last I don't know from 20 seconds to a couple of minutes at most.

They appear suddenly and disappear suddenly.

At various times I've given him zantac (I read online it can be from a bad stomach), Gas-x, and unflavored tums.  Nothing seems to make a difference.

We are off to the vet on Monday to hopefully find out more and a solution

Has anyone had a problem like this before?

Not that lasted any length of time -- hiccups for people or dogs are still a bit of a medical mystery I guess.  If the vet thinks it's tummy problems I can sendy ou the recipe for the "Slippery Elm Cocktail" (slippery elm, aloe juice, a few drops of chlorophyll and acidophilous).

Good luck -- let us know what it is!

Karen, I have no idea but hope the vet can figure this out for Bugsy.  We cannot have him hiccupping while stalking moles-he will give himself away, LOL!

Beaux was a hiccuping puppy... several time a day but for only 30 seconds to a minute. Didn't know it was a problem, thought it was like when I was a kid and got them a lot. He outgrew them by the time he was about 6 months old, but none of the others ever had hiccups.

    Poor Bugs!

Bugsy hiccuped as a pup too - but not since - well until now

Poor Bugsy; I hope the vet can find the cause. Is it possible he's getting into something (trash, etc) ?

Janice he is definitely not getting into anything.  We've reduced them now but he had a couple this morning after waking. I spoke to my vet who thought there wasn't anything we could really do at this point.

He's eating, sleeping, pooping and peeing just fine.  I put him on a bland diet for a few days and he's back on kibble now.

Amanda said one of her dogs gets them when cold so i am trying to make sure he is staying warm.
