A breeding question.

    A breeding question.

One of my co-workers breeds. Now I wouldnt buy a pup from him because he is breeding his pets. No titles, health checks, etc. But anyways he was talking to another co-worker about he bought a 3 year old bitch last year and she's had 2 heats but refuses to breed with his male. He has 3 dogs total. One male and the 2 females. Other female he got as a pup and has bred her twice to his male.

Now I was wondering would the female he got at 3 years old not breed to the male because the other female has already done so and established that the male is hers? Would she breed to another outside male possibly?

I'm very interested in learning everything about dogs so I find this quite interesting. I just assumed dogs breed when the time is right. But what do I know. I don't have the slightest clue about breeding!

Nope.  Dogs are, well, animals, when it comes to mating.  No such thing as already claimed in that world!

Dogs are not monogamous.  Females have even been known to have litters where the pups had different fathers.

If she just dislikes this particular male, she might mate with a different one.  However, the owner may just not be timing the breeding appropriately.  In that case, the female would reject any male.

From what I heard the dogs are together all the time. No separation at all.
