Rash on chin & feet

The antibiotics won't help the allergies -- it's simply to keep the staph infection from spreading and worsening it.

I know antibiotics aren't going to do anything for his allergies.... I MEANT that it didn't make a difference in the rash/red spots which he was given the medication for.

Except that the rash itself *was* allergy, so essentially lthe point of the antibiotics was just to keep infection away.  *I* get hives SO easily from stuff I've eaten (it started with basil and now it's most any freshly cut herb like parsley, watercress, and some peppers like chipotle, and other greens like olive leaf).  But when I get that hivey rash it takes WEEKS to subside even tho the incident was a one time thing.  At times I've had to take antibiotics because the sore areas were in a place really prone to infection -- and the abx help that but don't always make the rash go away.  It can also depend on what antibiotic it was.

Billy's skin has been awful this summer/fall -- and he had to be on Clavamox in August and it did NOTHING for the skin.  We needed to do antibiotics but they were no quick fix.  Trust me, I understand your frustration.

Callie, we've had some hard freezes in Indiana, and since Spazzy is in Connecticut, I assume they have had freezes too. Allergies to trees, grass, and weeds won't be a problem until next year. Mold is another story however, and it is a very common allergen.

I know that sounds like the crazy woman from the South "doesn't understand" but honestly, *grin* I'm really not crazy and I come *from* western NY -- and the fallen leaves, and late fall stuff always HAS almost killed me.  It probably is partly mold but that decaying dust from dead allergens can be lethal.  If something is an allergen when it's green, it's usually going to be an allergen even if it's in the process of decaying and sometimes even more so because it's more "mobile" and blows around more.

And inside it ramps up to something diferent when you add forced-air heat to the dust and mold.

OT, but one of our sons has lived in Florida for several years. He misses the change in seasons; the snow, etc. Do you notice that too?

I've been down here about 25 years -- and there IS a change in season.  It's simply a bit more subtle.  And honestly?  No, I don't miss living up North a whit -- I hate, loathe & despise snow.  I hate driving in it, walking, living and existing in it.  LOL  I can get away from a hurricane if I need to but you can't get away from snow if you live in it *sigh*.

I love October/November down here -- it's the unsung sweet season.  The weather cools but is still nice to do things outside.

Out poor dog has the same exact thing!!  When I saw the pictures of the bumps on the chin and the paw redness I couldn't believe it.  Have been to the vet about 15 times over the last two months and still can't figure out what is causing this.  Have changed his food, bowls and using all non-toxic cleaning products in the house.  Never use any type of insecticides, herbacides, pestacides or fertilizers outside.  Did you ever figure out what was causing these symptoms on Spazzy?  This is driving us nuts.  Our Bodee even looks like he could be related to Spazzy.  Where did you get him?  We rescued Bodee from Mexico.  Help!!
