dental Time for Honey

    dental Time for Honey

Yesterday afternoon we took Honey to the vet's to ger her nails clipped.  I use to do it but since my vision has gotten so bad I can't tell wher the quick is and I do not want to hurt her....and hubby is scared to even try to trim her nails.

Lacy, the tech t clipped them, and checked her clean ears and lookedd at her teeth.  Now when I had her in for her final liver check a few months ago Rickey told me I needed to think about a dental soon.  But I always worry so much when any of my dogs have had to go under for dentals, surgery, etc, and besides Honey has horrible hallucinations when coming around.  It is heartbreaking to see and hear her so tyerrified of whatever she sees.  But Lacy said it appears Honey's very back loswer right tooh is cracked.

Problem,--hubby was suppose to leav eout last night on a run and goodness knows when he would get back.  He had just returned form 4 weeks out.  Lacy told me that when he was coming in or got in call and they would get Honey in for a dental no matter what it took to rescheduled.

Then last night his load canceled, so he was still here this morning.  HOWEVER< he had fed her breakfast and when I called Rickey said he didn't like to do any kind of dental or surgery on a dog that had eaten unless it wa a dire emergency.  BUT if we could bring her in any time today and leave her he would "take good care of her" and do the dental first thing in the morning and then someone would bring her home for me.  I then talked more to Lacy and she said she gets off at 1:30 tomorrow and she and Christy would bring Honey home for me.  They know I don't drive anymore.

What more could a person ask from a vet--no charge for clipping her nails keeping her over night to get the dental done in the morning, bringing her home, no extra charge for any of that, plus still get my senior discount.  I couldn't ask for a better vet. or tgechs.  They all love my Honey girl.

you're very lucky. not many vets are able to do that kind of thing, no matter how much they want to!

Honey is home and doing great. In fact you would never know she had a procedure done! Her tooth did have to be pulled and it was cracked, and actually there was infection at the root and the nerve was exposed. Was the very back lower right tooth.

She was given an antibiotic injerction aty the hospital and is on pills for 14 days. How normal is she? She tried to chase a cat at the vets, came in and went to water bowl and drank and went counter surfing.

Lacy said Honey did not have hallucinations this time, but she was not put under as deep as she has been for her tumor surgeries. When I talked to Lacy right after the surgery she said Honey was sitting up in the ICU cage watching her, had woke up almost at once when the procedure was finsihed.

That's great news! I'm glad she did so well. Jewel had a dental and tooth pulled, yesterday, and I was surprised how fast she was awake! They must be using something super light, for their dentals, and it's awesome!

Glad Miss Honey did so well:) Your vet sounds like the greatest!

I am glad your little girl ddin't have any problems following the dental/extraction.    Honey has had surgery for tumors 3 times and every time had horrible hallucinations when coming around afterwards.  She was so terrified of something in the room that wan't there, of course.  She cried and yelped and struggled.    I had to be on the floor holding her to prevent her rippiong her stitches out.

Tnhey had said there was a good chacne she would not want to eat tonight HA.  As soon as she went counter suring as soon as she got home (suspect she was looking for her missed breakfast), I figured she would eat.  Well, I fet her at her normla 6:00 and she ate with gusto and looked for more!
