    Yes, it's great news.  The following states have medical exemptions: Maine, Connecticut, New York, Alabama, Virginia, Florida, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Colorado, Wisconsin, and Oregon

    CORRECTION:  It has just been brought to our attention that a Colorado medical exemption was actually passed in 2008 and became effective on July 1, 2008.   On January 19, 2010 substantial revisions were made to the rules and regulations, which became effective March 2, 2010

    Is it something they can do right in the office and then the client has it in hand.  RI's is very difficult to obtain.  You have to submit in writing to the rabies board which meets very rarely and then wait for an answer.  It's a step forward but I was pretty disappointed with the situation here.  Hope these states are doing much better and RI can eventually follow them.
