    Proticall

Does anyone have any experience as to what, if any, side effects, or adverse reactions, might occur with this insecticide?  Have any of you ever noticed anything behavioral?  Hoping all the vet techs and groomers will jump in on this one.  I have a consultation with a puppy owner tomorrow whose dog is getting this.  I want to try rule out (or in) any connection if I can.

I haven't used it, but this part got my attention:

Harmful if swallowed or absorbed through the skin. Causes moderate eye irritation. Avoid contact with skin, eyes, or clothing. Wash thoroughly with soap and water after handling. DO NOT USE ON CATS. Cats which actively groom or engage in close physical contact with recently treated dogs may be at risk of serious harmful effect. Do not use this product in households with both dogs and cats. Consult a veterinarian before using this product on debilitated, aged, or medicated animals. Consult with a veterinarian before using on dogs with known organ dysfunction. Sensitivities may occur after using ANY pesticide product for pets. If signs of sensitivity occur, discontinue use, bathe your pet with mild soap and rinse with large amounts of water. If signs continue, seek veterinary advice

The product should be clearly marked if safe around children and pets.

However- other side effects are - licking affected area- paws or tail end ( if they sat in the grass),

Now drooling is distress, confusion, staggering are all signs of something very serious.

Using like Dawn soap, was the affected area immediately. The poison control number I have on my refrigerator just in case. And the phone number of the emergency vet. center.

It's similar to K-9 Advantix, which is on my personal list of "NEVER EVER" stuff -- apparently huge warnings not to use even *around* cats -- but should not be used on puppies or senior animals.

It's asking for trouble if you ask me -- it's one of those "If your dog is PERFECTLY NORMAL this is ok -- and if something goes wrong we'll say "well, we TOLD you not to use it on an animal that wasn't normal!!" (.e., no animal is perfectly "normal" -- not really and not when you abuse it en route - if there wasn't anything wrong with them before we'll tip the bubble for you!)

The label bothered me, too, and this is a five month old puppy they're using the stuff on.  Wonder who the vet is...my vet doesn't recommend the heavy duty insecticides.  I hope these folks don't freak out when I tell them I'm recommending everything from a bath (in Dawn lol) to diet change in addition to the "fix it" training they think I'm going to do;-)
