    Parti color poodles

This is just an obsevation, but are there very many parti poodles out there any more? I've been grooming a sweet young male parti lately, and it got me to thinking how long it's been since I've groomed one. In the early seventies, in Las Vegas, there were a lot of parti poodles. Seems like they were the "designer dogs" of their day.

At an obedience trial last year I saw two beautiful standard parti poodles. The first time I'd ever seen the pattern on a standard. I know the AKC still only allows solid colors in breed competition, but I've heard that the UKC has recognized the parti. Are they still popular in some parts of the country (world) ?

UKC does now allow partis to be shown in conformation and I have seen them at UKC shows. A couple sites you may be interested in:

     HI

There are a few parti poodles, some really striking ones, but they are not allowed to be shown here. As a performance orientated person, i am always concerned that temperament and working ability is part of the breeding programme.

I can't say that i have been convinced that this charecterisitic has been maintaned in  the other designer dog that is prolific here, the Labradodle. I believe that our State started that trend
