    tags, tags, tags

I wouldn't think there would be too much to choose from out there, but there is!!

     what kind do you have??

I used to have the machine engraved ones, like you get at the local big box pet store, but I found that they end up wearing down pretty fast! the engraving isn't that deep either. It leave them really hard to read and stuff rubbed off on light colored coats :(

I've seen those little plastic ones, that aren't supposed to make noise, but I haven't tried them. but one thing I don't like is the connector piece on those is plastic! gah. I'm sure it can be changed out, but nothing plastic lasts on my dogs!! LOL

Lately I've been making my own, hand hammered letters etc.  Zoey has already lost one tag, so it's nice I can just make her another in ten minutes.

No fun shapes though, just a regular old circle. lol

Boomerang tags. Seriously the only tag I will ever buy :)

are those the 'in line' ones that slide onto the collar?

They make all kinds :) My dogs have plastic bone shaped ones, but he makes a few types of metal as well I think. Our plastic tags have a metal piece around the hole for the ring, too, so they don't wear out.

Boomerang tags are awesome!  We have the ones that go on the single layer nylon collar with clip and we have the one that slides on double layer or leather buckle collars.

However I recently got a couple of hunting collars and they come with a brass nameplate riveted on. I am loving these - have both at the beach, he will not slip or break these collars and the info will not come off. I have home and cell on these

Boomerang tags are all that I'd ever use.

Yup, Boomerang Tags is the only one I will use.  Grady has his for 4(?) years & it is still very readable.  You can have them engraved on both sides as well.  Service is great & delivery is super fast.

I use Boomerangs b/c they are cheap and you can get like 4-5 lines of info on the front and back.  I have a LOT of info on my tags.

I have a few Gun Dog Supply collars that came with ID plates, but there are not as many lines of text.

I've gotten tags from Pet Expectations; the owner, Jill, engraves them twice so it's deeper and you can do front and back.  We've had them for a long time and they are reasonably priced.  I've not used Boomerang tags, though, so no comparison.

Here's a tip for the other tags (rabies, local license, etc.) Put a piece of clear packaging tape over the entire face. I use an Exacto knife to trim it around the edges. It's best to do it when you first get them.

I've used both Pet Expectations and Boomerang. I like the Boomerang more, but I buy the steel ones and they do last. More room on them as well, though I like that both offer front and back engraving.  The Pet E ones bend a little easier. Either are good. :)

Military dog tags here.  Honestly- I ordered tags from a place who makes replacement dog tags for the military.  One has our contact info on it, the other the same info that was on the little plastic tag from AVID.  Since they come in sets of 2, I have back ups to keep on hand when we travel.  The rubber tag silencers the military uses works well, too.

All my pets have stainless steel tags from Boomerang.  The ones my cats have are almost five years old, and I think the dogs' tags are older than that.  All of them still look brand new.
