POLL: Dress Up?

    • Puppy

I voted "yes, often" because sometimes I like to put a cute t-shirt or dress on Lina. Oddly enough when she was a puppy she used to bring me her clothes to put on her lol. I don't do it as much anymore though. I have a couple little things for her (1 shirt & 1 dress) for "dress up", and 2 coats for the winter/rainy days. Boss has a hoodie (that he hates but I make him wear it in the winter), he has never liked clothes so I didn't push it. And I dress them up on halloween..lol.

We dress our Chiwat Lolita.  I think it is a breed oriented thing.  I mean, when I had Goldens I didn't dress them.  We dressed our Yorkies some of the time but never in the heat.  I am going to Superzoo tomorrow in Vegas to see what is new in the dog fasion industry and to try to find a distributor.  Wink

    Just curious...what's a chiwat?

I put other... I have toy dogs with a single coat so they get cold in the winter. They all have jackets for that so it's purely functional. However, I also LOVE to stick them in fun clothes every now and then for photo ops. Sometimes for a holiday, sometimes not. They don't ever actually wear these clothes other than pictures, but it's hilarious to me and my boys especially seem to love dressing up. Ironically if you put any clothes (even a jacket) on Rose who is possibly the girliest looking dog on the planet, she will loathe you. So she never wears clothes.

I tend to have dogs with health issues and they often feel cold, so I'll put a t-shirt or whatever is pertinent on them for that.

We also do pet therapy, and we go to Give Kids the World once or twice a month -- and I try to dress them for Holidays to start conversation and make fun stuff for the kids.

I've also had a dog who had major heart/lung issues and she was a boxer/pit mix.  She wore a shirt ALL THE TIME (yes in Florida) because it helped her not cough.  She was also incontinent and wore bitches britches with continence pads in them.  She WAS A THERAPY DOG -- but people got a huge charge out of the fact that she wore "diapers" like all the senior citizens.

And ... one of the parents at GKTW the came up to me one day and said (and I QUOTE)

"You know ... normally when I see a dog of that sort of breed mix I get a bit nervous because I have to protect my daughter -- but you know what?  You see a dog in jeans and a t-shirt and it kinda makes you think it's really probably NOT dangerous even if it might look like it could be.  I just can't quite see that a dog in a t-shirt would ... bite!"

Yeah -- stuff to wear when it ... WORKS.
