Flea & Tick Season

Apparently the fleas are worse than ever this summer. I use advantage but am having to use every 3 weeks instead of once a month with the vet's blessing. I am thinking of trying frontline plus next. My vet swears they both wash off but I am a sucker for marketing and think frontline sounds like it stays on longer. Plus, my mom uses frontline on her dog and it makes an oil slick for a few days vs. when I put advantage on my dog it absorbs within 12 hrs or so. Frontline seems stronger!

We use Revolution. It prevents heart worms, fleas, ticks and all sorts of other mites.

I live in VA where it gets extremely hot/humid in the summer... basically, fleas and ticks thrive here. BUT so far I haven't ever used a flea product on Gingerbread and he's a year old. He's had less than 5 fleas on him during that whole time.

I live in a 1 bedroom apartment, so the only time he's outside is for a walk, so his exposure to fleas/ticks/mosquitoes has been fairly limited. I think he also must not be very attractive to insects (hopefully because he's healthy!)... I'm not a fan of chemicals, so if I were to start having a problem with fleas or ticks, my first resort would be to try a natural product- like Neem oil shampoo and spray.

Right now the only chemical he's getting is Heartgard, and I give that about every 6 weeks instead of 4....

Frontline Plus works very well with Roxie.  It's what my vet recommended first, so I went with it.  Roxie hasn't had any fleas or ticks, either.  She is on Interceptor for heartworm preventative.

there was no option for NOTHING? i don't put bug-repellents (poisons) on myself and i certainly don't put them on my dogs.

though sometimes, i suppose it's necessary. i used to have a cat who was highly allergic to fleas, and she did get some drops of poison on her 2-3 times a year (lesser of two evils).

Frontline Plus for all three of my animal whenever they need it. Thanfully so far this year I haven't had to go buy some.
