I strongly believe that all dogs should live with you in your home. Have a comfortable bed or sleep with you. There are some dogs that do live outside, some that have to stay outside temporarily, either way you have to make sure that their dog house is a nice, safe and comfortable place for them. Here are a few things to consider to make sure your dog’s house is up to par.

1. Be sure that the house is big enough for the dog to take shelter and have protection from bad weather, roomy so they can stretch out too.

2. Make sure it’s dry, well insulated and free of drafts.

3. Keep it nice clean, change out blankets and make sure they are washed.

4. A good dog house should be mobile, meaning in winter it should face the sun for warmth and be put in the shade for summer to keep you pup cool.

5. Be sure any rough edges are taken care of and there are no exposed nails or screws that your pup can get snagged on.

6. Never used pressure treated lumber, it has chemicals in there that can be harmful if you dog decides to chew.

Another thing to add to your check list if you have a fence and gates be sure they are secure and there are no weak spots or holes in the fence to keep your pet from getting out.
Overall, keep their space safe and clean inside and out and you’ll have a happy dog.
