Last week I took a long walk in Manhattan.  I did it partly for the exercise, and mostly to see what has been going on out there with the holidays.  As ususal, I had my camera in my bag ready to take pictures of whatever looked interesting.

One thing I had noticed was with the ecomomic climate as it stands today that many, and I may be so bold to say that most retailers looked like they were hurting.  Unlike other seasons, the crowds in Manhattan on Fifth Avenue were mosty tourist, and many from Europe.  It was easy to walk down the street and find your way to 30 Rock where the Christmas tree stands.

On my way, I was amazed to see how many stores had signs in the windows telling customers that we too have a sale.  Unlike years past, where all of the sale merchandise was in the back of the store on a rack that would have a tiny sale sign.
Another thing I noticed in the stores was how theatrical the window displays were to catch the tourists eye, and hopefully get that potential customer to come into the store.

That is when I had noticed a blue dog.  Not the Blue Dog, by George Rodrique who can be seen on www.centralArF.TV, but a life size dog that was all blue with a fancy necklace around it's neck.  Why a dog?  Simply because most of us are dog lovers, and we love to see them even while shopping.  To see a blue one will make you stop and take a look and ask yourself, why is that dog blue?

The only thing I can think of is that the color was beautiful, and because it was different, that you will somehow remember or at least be entertained by seeing a window display that is different. It will be interesting if this dog comes back when the economic climate gets better.
