We drive a LOT right now, since I live 1hr away from my parent's place and we go almost every weekend. He usually comes to work with me too, so that's another 40-60 minutes, daily. Pirate isn't THRILLED about riding in the car but he doesn't detest it. He usually sleeps.

He WILL get excited about riding in BF's parent's '80 Jeep. He likes the wind in his mohawk!

My dogs are like kids - get on the highway and they go right to sleep.

Lily is the only one that sometimes doesn't like being in the car. I believe that is because she was transported to MI through a rescue transport. That seemed to leave her with the feeling that car rides = losing her home. She cried every time we got in the car for the first 2 weeks. Now she only cries once in a while.

My two are different.  Heidi has fun and enjoys every part of the ride.  Buddy gets a bit car sick, but DOES NOT want to be left behind.  He enjoys it when we are at a stop...but not so much the movement.

And, they love drive up windows...especially the bank or the Walgreens where they get a treat.  Big Smile

We went to the drive-up at the bank today, and Pirate was DEVASTATED that the lady didn't send him out a cookie. I had to get one out of my secret stash.

Charlie is amazing in the car.  When he was 8 weeks old we drove to MI >6 hours away.  Since then we have made the trip about 30 times and he just falls asleep in his crate until we get there.

My 14 year old Lab, Tia, absolutely loves to go in the car anywhere, anytime.  My Jack Russell rides to work with me every day and to him it's just a mode of transportation.  My young shepherd mix is happy at the idea but less happy about the reality of it.

Honor likes car rides as long as there is air flow involved.  She has to ride with a window cracked, or with her face in front of a vent.  Otherwise, she gets antsy and I believe a little nauseous.

Giz is perfectly happy in cars.  She sees a car door open and wants to jump in.  She's always traveling with me wherever I go, to work, then park, friend's home...wherever.  Only problem I had was when she was a puppy but she quickly got over the fear of car thing and does well.

    Shhhhhh...please...
    Don't say C.A.R. outloud....

And heaven forbid, don't say T.R.U.C.K. anywhere in the vicinity of Talus...

    Talus is a car junkie...
He loves going to Tim Horton's with me (coffee place...) and the girls all know him and give him a timbit (mini donut)...

He loves lying in the backseat of the van and adores driving in my hubby's pick-up truck...
Oh the stares he gets when people pull up beside the truck at a light and they see Talus is in the passenger seat...

Willow thinks my car is her rolling dog house--she lives for rides!  All you have to do is start to say, "Wanna go for a . . .and she's at the door.

Max goes nuts! He hears the words "go bye bye" and he starts galloping back and forth through the livingroom! We hand him his leash and he carries it out to the car! It so funny, I'll have to video tape it and put it uo as a vid for all to see!

Also, he gets the whole back seat so he'll laydown, stand up, stick his head out the window, or just sit up and watch the passers by like he's saying "Look at me! I's so cool ridin in da car!" But of course he plays it totally cool as to not look stuck up. LOL

Rory used to be great in the car, would usually just lay there or sleep. Then there was a couple weeks we went to the vet a lot, tummy upset, got spayed, got a really loose baby tooth yanked and ever since then she's scared to death of the car. We haven't been back to the vet in months, I try to drive her fun places like the pet store, the park, the snow, family houses but she just does this weird sorta sitting mostly standing thing in her crate, panting, getting giant drops of saliva everywhere. won't take treats or anything if shes in the car. Shes just in panic. 5 mins or an hour, doesn't matter. We go a lot, so I wish she would handle it better.
