Rainbow Bridge

The Rainbow Bridge is the theme of a work of poetic prose written some time between 1980 and 1992, whose original creator is unknown. The theme is of an other-worldly place to which a pet goes upon its death, eventually to be reunited with its owner.

    Trey

I know I don't post here as much as I used to but I thought I should let you all know that today we helped dear old Trey over the bridge. I can't tell you all how much it hurts. We knew it was coming but still, it came rather quickly and unexpectedly. He was a good boy and will be very missed. May he meet up at the bridge with my past shelties. I know my old Nik has a word or two for him. It feels so empty.

I'm so sorry to hear it.

gosh I'm sorry to hear this -- and I know what you mean about the house feeling "empty" without a sheltie -- when you don't get herded around every corner, when you don't hear the patter of those little sheltie (or Mostlie Sheltie) feets -- it IS lonely.

but alleviating pain in the old age -- that IS love.  tough love (on us) but the greatest KIND of love.

    *hugs*

I'm so so sorry about Trey.  You always had wonderful Trey stories in your posts, thank you for letting us get to know him.  And I hope that knowing that he's already met up with all of his past Sheltie family members gives you some comfort during this hard time.  I'll keep you in my thoughts.

Lauren,  your boy had a special place in my heart.  I'm so sad to hear about his crossing.  I loved hearing his stories & seeing his beautiful face when you shared him with us.  Run free, old man!  I'm pretty sure that Lucy will be there to herd with you.  She wasn't a Sheltie but she loved to herd.
