Rest easy, Buckwheat 10/98-3/09

Rainbow Bridge

The Rainbow Bridge is the theme of a work of poetic prose written some time between 1980 and 1992, whose original creator is unknown. The theme is of an other-worldly place to which a pet goes upon its death, eventually to be reunited with its owner.

    Rest easy, Buckwheat 10/98-3/09

Rest in peace you little old lady, Bucklehead, Bug-a-wee, Buck, Buckzilla...

Today I freed you from your stressing about those kids and those other dogs. I let you go knowing we didn't always see eye to eye on what was acceptable and good dog behavior...but you did things your own way, and you had such a dignity about you, and I respect that.

We did many things wrong and we didn't think of the future when you came to us all those years ago...I failed, & I alone will shoulder that burden. I am sorry.

We parted friends, and everyone here in this house, will miss you and loves you.

I'm sorry for your loss, Gina.

Gina, I'm so sorry.  My thoughts are with you and your family.  It's so hard to let them go even when you know it's the absolutely best decision for them.  Go find my Tia, Buckwheat.

    Oh, Gina, I'm sorry.

Bucky, run free and rest easy at the Bridge. Promise to keep an eye on Pirate, your shared-hairdo friend, for me, when I'm not watching. You've got a good vantage point from up there.

I'm so sorry to hear this, Gina and family.  None of us do things correctly all the time...but we do learn to do things better.  I always thought Buckwheat was a cool name for a cool looking dog, and it fit her perfectly.

She has plenty of idog friends now, and is in good company.  RIP, Buckwheat...
