I will see you again someday, Buster...

Rainbow Bridge

The Rainbow Bridge is the theme of a work of poetic prose written some time between 1980 and 1992, whose original creator is unknown. The theme is of an other-worldly place to which a pet goes upon its death, eventually to be reunited with its owner.

I just wanted to thank you all again.  I just can't believe how great you all are.

My DH took me out to a build a bear the other day so I could build a Buster.  It was so sweet of him.  He knows how much Buster meant to me and he was really my last connection to my dad who passed in 2002.  But I picked out a dog (who looks nothing like Buster because who mmakes brindle stuffed dogs?) stuffed him and put his old collar with tags on him.  I hold him at night and it is very comforting.  None of my other dogs are cuddlers.  I told DH that one criteria for our next dog is that he or she MUST be a cuddler.  I really miss that about Buster.  He was the best cuddling dog ever.

I think the build a bear was an excellent idea and I'm going to remember that. I'm so glad that you're able to have something to hold and give you comfort. I have one dog who is a cuddler and one who isn't, so I know what you mean. It's no fun when your dog gives you a dirty look when you're trying to love on them Stick out tongue

Oh, GeorgAnne, I am so, so sorry.  I'm not here that often, but some mention from you of Buster and how he's doing is one of the first things I look for when I come; you did so right by him in every way and I know how hard it was to let him go.  Iggy cat really did his best to stay with us, so I know how that feels...

I've said it before, but Buster is just one of my favorite i-dogs - handsome, unique and very, very charming.  If you could meet Pofi, I know you would be reminded of your sweet boy and some day, I'll get Pofi's song on video and you'll see the resemblance even more clearly...

Wishing you comfort in your memories of Buster; he loved you and was loved in return and that is the measure of a wonderful life.

Rest well and easy in the summerlands, handsome, bonny lad!

Thank you so much for your kind words.

Pofi has always reminded me of Buster as well.  I would love to hear his "song".  I will treasure that video of him forever, it is the only thing I have, I think, where he is talking.  Buster was quick to make friends where ever he went.  I had a friend from work come over once before his passing and she fell in love with him immediately.  I just loved that about him.

Oh, Buster... my heart is in tears because I'm just seeing this thread.  Even though we never met, you can just see what a complete sweetheart Buster is.  The soulful kind eyes can be plainly seen in any of your photos.  Talk about a GOOD DOG!

GeorgAnne, I'm so very sorry for your extremely heart-wrenching loss.  Buster has been a fixture around here for so long that it feels like we've all lost a friend.  The love you shared with Buster is a treasure that will stay buried in your heart forever.  Much love and extra hugs of support for you.  I know his soft gaze would normally be the one to soothe you in times of sorrow, so my wish is that you can feel him with you in comfort and that personal knowledge that you were the best pair for eachother.  Another big hug to you!

You are in my thoughts and prayers. He had a good long life with you and you did all you could for him he will be waiting for you.
