RIP pretty girl

Rainbow Bridge

The Rainbow Bridge is the theme of a work of poetic prose written some time between 1980 and 1992, whose original creator is unknown. The theme is of an other-worldly place to which a pet goes upon its death, eventually to be reunited with its owner.

Oh Jewlieee, I am so sorry for your loss. Your tribute made me cry, and those photos are wonderful of your beautiful girl. Big hugs.

Your tribute to Dakota is beautiful.  She had a good life with you and you have lots of wonderful memories.  As I posted in the other thread, she can enjoy all the snow she wants to now.  The pics you posted are also incredible - you truly captured her husky beauty and spirit.  Dakota, you are free and whole once again.

I know you are running like the wind again with no fences - godspeed...............

I have teared up while reading and typing and Bugsy has come to lay his head on my lap (not something he does) - I think he is sending his wishes to you and Dakota too!

Julie, I'm so very sorry about Dakota.  Thank you for sharing her with us.  Run like the wind, gorgeous girl!

I'm crying here too. Like Cakana, I always had the feeling that I met Dakota once and my heart is broken like yours now. I think you are very lucky, you shared your life with her and loved her so much. I wish, for once, I could give a real hug and not a cyberhug.

The things you wrote about her and the pictures are beautiful, I even could imagine her with her wohooo's and sucking her blankie. The first three dogs I saw here on dog.com were Bubblegum, Neiko and Dakota and I think they have a very special place in my heart and Thor's life, I'm now a better owner and that's because those three dogs catch my attention and I never stopped coming back for more.

Rest in peace you sweet precious Dakota.

We are heartbroken for you here too!  I know that when you have an independent dog like that the bond you form is all the more special because they just don't give away affection, you have to work for it.  You have an understanding that you don't normally find.

She was so beautiful. . .my heart just aches looking at her. I can't imagine what you are going thru.

God speed Dakota, give em heck at the Bridge

Oh gosh Jewlieee, I am so terribly sorry. I know how you feel on loosing your wonderful girl. What a free spirit she was.

What a beautiful tribute to her... of course I'm balling my eyes out reading your post and looking at the beautiful pictures. Thank you for sharing them with us.

It will be a rough road to go for you for a while.... take your time and you will get thru it.....  the hole in your heart will fill a little..with loving feelings and memories. I don't think it will ever fill up though... mine hasn't after loosing my Bubblegum.

Someone sent this to me when I lost my girl:

We who choose to surround ourselves with lives even more temporary than our own, live within a fragile circle, easily and often breached. Unable to accept its awful gaps, we still would live no other way. We cherish memory as the only certain immortality, never fully understanding the necessary plan. - Irving Townsend.
