Do you really believe in The Rainbow Bridge?

Rainbow Bridge

The Rainbow Bridge is the theme of a work of poetic prose written some time between 1980 and 1992, whose original creator is unknown. The theme is of an other-worldly place to which a pet goes upon its death, eventually to be reunited with its owner.

I do believe and I know a little group that is waiting for me there playing around and having lots of fun. I have faith and I believe that souls don't endand they are linked to me as I am to them, forever.

Ron, I'm sorry about your wife and your friend's deaths. I truly believe your story. When my Mom passed away, she visited me the first 3 days, as if she was still there. Her image was real. On day fourth, she visited me again in my dreams and told me that she hasn't gone yet because she worried about me. Then I told her I'll be ok and that I wanted her to move on. From that moment on, I hardly see her anymore...if I did, they were vivid dreams of her in my dreams..

I also completely agree with you ....if an animal that can dream, it definitely has a soul.

Mickeyboo, I was right beside her, when she passed. I was not dreaming.

Thank you. I've buried too many people and my life is only half over. So, by the time I go (sometime in my 80's. I have seen my own death.) there will be a lot of people and some furry ones to see. I may not make it to Heaven but at least I can visit the pets, I hope. I'm not sure Hades has weekend passes, or not.

FWIW, Heaven is a real place. So is the bad place. And they are what you make it. To some extent, we carry heaven and hell with us, every day.

     jennie,

That must had been one of the unforgettable moments!  I wish I was there with my Mickey through the last moment, who knew may have experienced what you have. I regret that I left the room too soonSad

My vet was awesome. Grace was "her" puppy, too. She'd been there, all the way through it. She lived right up the road from me, and she knew it would be soon, so she set Grace up with an IV, and brought the euthanasia solution home. She told me to call her when I needed her, and I did. We brought Grace's bed out to the back yard, and did it there, where she was happy and comfortable, and surrounded by people she loved. It was really wonderful for the vet to do that, for her.

I'm not sure if the Rainbow Bridge is the way its described either...but I can only say that I believe in heaven...and what would heaven be without my Bubblegum?????

Rainbow More than I believe in the traditional concept of heaven..... If there is no Rainbow Bridge  Don't bother with me... it could never be a satisfying eternity without my dogs.   Bonita of Bwana

Jennie, it's great that you have an awesome vet. My vet really was bad and I'd never go back to her again. She and most of her staffs show no affection when I had to let my Mickey go. They were like robots and not even a pat on my shoulder to support. IT's so hard to find a vet who is compassionate in animals ...not the money.

To the rest of the other replies..I totally agree with you all..It would not be heaven if I can't be with my dogs..They were a part of my heart, just like a family member. My heart still aches and I still miss my Mickey and Boo so much, just like when I've lost a  human family member...some times more. If there's Heaven for us human beings, there must be Heaven for all the beloved pets who had bring us so much joys..and no hatres.

I don't believe in the Rainbow Bridge, it is a griving method.

I believe in Heaven, and in the bible it says that children are innocent, and innocents go to heaven - no matter what(basicly...or so thats what my gramma told me). I believe that animals are innocent. They can't say anything to prevent things from happening, it is out of they're control. So, if all innocents go to heaven....then why don't animals? They're Gods children too.

I refuse to die unless I know my Tucker will be waiting for me on the other side of the Pearly Gates. Along with Diamonds foal, Sniffers babies, Cinnamon, and my big boy Buck. And when Sam's time comes, I will refuse to leave here unless I know that big lug is waiting for me in heaven.

Then again, I do also believe in reincarnation(sp?). I honestly think that some people, and animals, come back into ours lives - to help us again, or, may be not our lives, but someone elses, someone they could help even more.

Meg, see if you can find a copy of a book by Fannie Flagg called "Can't Wait to Get to Heaven".  It is a hoot to read and will give you MY definition of Heaven.  It was not a bestseller but it's a quick read and you seem like someone who enjoys reading.

Remember -- we don't have to fit into a cookie-cutter world there -- this is HEAVEN folks -- this is where we get to have it out way and not be selfish ... because it's all unique.

Once upon a time I used to teach 3rd grade in a church-run school that catered to city children and military kids.  One day we were discussing the verse "In my Father's House are many Mansions.  I go to prepare a place for you!" -- and one of the boys (who had always lived in "project" housing said:

"WHOAAAAA -- now THAT will be SOME CONDO!!!!"

Think about it -- one house?  many mansions?  Unique viewpoint?

We often limit ourselves and our own imaginings so much because we forget to consider the viewpoints of others.  *grin*
