Rainbow Bridge

The Rainbow Bridge is the theme of a work of poetic prose written some time between 1980 and 1992, whose original creator is unknown. The theme is of an other-worldly place to which a pet goes upon its death, eventually to be reunited with its owner.

    Yesterday was the worst day of my life. Sophie's cancer was advancing fast and we had to put her to rest.

    My heart is broken and my eyes won't dry.

    I woke up at 3 a.m. this morning, the time that she'd always wake me up to take her out to pee. This time it wasn't her bark that woke me up, it was her silence.

    I miss her so much. I feel hollow inside.

    I love you, Sophie!!

    The pain is SO bad the first few days ... and really nothing helps except a bit of support and time.  and ... envisioning her over Rainbow Bridge feeling GREAT and laying in the sun. 

    We understand ... and you'll be in our thots and prayers.  Our hearts DO understand and are with you.

    Although your own pain of losing such a wonderful and dear friend may just be beginning, take comfort in the fact that Sofie' suffering is now over. Run free Sofie! - and ((((((HUGS)))))) to you.

    I am so sorry for your loss.  We just lost our sweet Shadow to cancer.  It was so hard to watch him go down so fast, harder still to let him go.   Know in your heart that Sophie is in a better place.   Thanks to calliecritters explaining Rainbow Bridge to me, and all the other encouragement here, I know that Shadow and Sophie are watching out for us and will be waiting to meet us again.   You will think a day will never come when you dont cry, but that day will come and then you will have wonderful memories of your sweet Sophie.  My heart and my prayers will be with you.

    These types of posts are always so heartbreaking but to see her beautiful face. . .I don't know what to say except we are very sorry for your loss.

    I know the pain your feeling and am so sorry.  They say it gets easier in time.  This board has helped me trying to get over April's death.  I got another pup and that has helped some, but still cry and that is normal.  God Bless you.

    Someone once said wear your tears proudly,,, they are a testiment to the love you shared.  May your tears be accompanied by smiles from the good memories.
