Say a little prayer for Bandit

Rainbow Bridge

The Rainbow Bridge is the theme of a work of poetic prose written some time between 1980 and 1992, whose original creator is unknown. The theme is of an other-worldly place to which a pet goes upon its death, eventually to be reunited with its owner.

Say a little prayer for Bandit

Bandit started life in a metal building in Pascagoula, MS in the spring of 1991.  I found him and his two sisters alone and half starving when a client took me to see his new shop.  The partner had run all the cats off and boarded up the holes, not realizing that there was a litter of kittens there.

So, Bandit and his sisters came home with me.....just until they were strong enough to find good homes for.  Well, after 3 or 4 weeks of bottle feeding them, there were NOT good enough homes, so they became mine.

In the winter Bandit spent several days in the hospital getting rehydrated and tested six ways to Sunday.  No problems found, he was just an old cat.  This happened around the time his sister disappeared....and we later found Spotty had broken her neck in a fall.

Friday Bandit starting going downhill.  We syringed water into him, and let him lick homecooked (for the dogs) off our fingers when he would.  The vet said there was nothing she could do for him and to let him go gently....if he started to suffer, to call her.

When we came home today, he was very very weak and refused even water.  He went to the Bridge a little bit ago.  DS is heartbroken, and I'm crying too....we knew it was coming, but still......

Here's to you Bandit.  Run free at the Bridge.

Oh, Glenda, I'm so sorry you lost your little Bandit.  I will ask Pirate to meet him at the Bridge and show him around.  He'll have plenty of friends - Jerome, Neptune, Jammer, and Cochise will all help him adjust and be happy and whole again till you meet again...and, of course, "Ears" will help, too, even if he is a dog.
    Run free, Bandit!!!!

Deeply sorry for your loss - coming from such an inauspicious start, he was a lucky litte boy knowing the comfort of a home and love all his life.

    Be at peace, Bandit.

Glenda, I am sorry for your loss and wish I could mend your broken heart as well as your son's too.
You gave Bandit the best quality of life a kitty could ever have asked for. For that alone you should be comforted.

My Sixpack will be there to play with Bandit, cause I asked him too.

HUGE HUGS to the both of you.

Glenda, I'm so sorry to hear the sad news about Bandit.  I know there are lots of special fur-friends at the Bridge welcoming him warmly.  I don't have any cats at the Bridge, but Tonka loved cats (even though most ran away as soon as they saw him).  If your Bandit was used to dogs from life in your house, then Tonka will definitely try to introduce himself.

My sympathies to you and your family - I'm sure Bandit is watching over you, grateful for the special years you gave him.
