Rainbow Bridge

The Rainbow Bridge is the theme of a work of poetic prose written some time between 1980 and 1992, whose original creator is unknown. The theme is of an other-worldly place to which a pet goes upon its death, eventually to be reunited with its owner.

    My beautiful Ben

We had to find a new home for my cat in 1997 as my mom was very allergic towards him. A couple of weeks later my dad wants to get me a labby so I called the SPCA to see if they had any labby type dogs and they said a Lab X Newfoundland had just been brought in so we went immediately and took our Dobermann to meet him. We all fell in love with him immediately. Got him in November 1997. Awesome Dog. We changed his name from Fluffy to Ben. Sounds more manly for a bif male dog than Fluffy did. He was 4 or 5 years old and adjusted well to my mom dad and I. Looked after him etc. My parents put him in Kennels for 6 months while they moved from Cape Twon, South Africa to Napier, South Africa as they had to build a wall around the property etc. Suprisingly he survived it as he was getting old. We had to have him put down in October 2006, 2 weeks before my 25th birthday. i was soooooooo sad but I made the decision. Was a very hard one as i didn't wanna loose him but I knew he had to go as he was suffering. Love you very much still, my boy!!!!

HUGS.....I have a soft spot for Big Black Dogs and especially Newf/Lab X :)  That is what my Rocky is supposed to be but who knows. All I know is that he is smart, loveable, and very devoted to his humans and his furr brother.

Ben...while you are at the Bridge waiting for us to cross go find Bear and Shadow and they will tell you all about the new forum he human has found and how nice all the humans are here.

    *waving hello* Welcome!!!

Your picture must reside someplace online.  If you have a photosharing place you have to copy the URL where that specific picture is and up at the top right (under the lady walking the dogs) click on your own name.  Then on the right hand side click on "edit your profile" and you can put a picture in your avatar (that's on the left -- look at the tabs at the top).

If you have several pics and you want to post them in a thread like this one, as you are typing in the box to make your post, just above the box is a menu line (B I U ... etc. -- and in the icons in the middle you will see a small green tree -- THAT is the one where you paste the URL of your picture to add it to a post.

OR you can upload a photo right here.

To do that, go back up to the top of the page again where you see the lady walking the dogs and click "Photos" -- on the left on the next screen that comes up, you'll see where it says "A picture is worth a thousand words ...." -- at the end of that sentence it says "Upload a picture".

The next screen that comes up -- at the top click on "add/update" -- that takes you to another window where you can click "browse" and find on your own hard drive the picture you want to upload.  Once you click on that it will give the website the link to where that pic is on your hard drive.  first describe your picture (you can put in a subject or a description in the white box -- or you don't have to),

Once you have uploaded that picture, click on your name (again up under the lady walking the dogs) and then the word "photos" -- and click on that picture you just uploaded.

UNDER it it will say "view sizes" -- check each of them out and decide which one you want to post.  Copy the URL of THAT picture (each of them are different -- you can't just take it when you first click on it -- but it has to be one of the ones under "view sizes";) and use that green tree icon to place that url in your post.
