Prayers for Blizzard

Rainbow Bridge

The Rainbow Bridge is the theme of a work of poetic prose written some time between 1980 and 1992, whose original creator is unknown. The theme is of an other-worldly place to which a pet goes upon its death, eventually to be reunited with its owner.

    Prayers for Blizzard

A co-worker of mine had to put his dog to sleep yesterday.  I haven't gotten the entire story but I do know that he had some health issues, an injury to both ACL's.

I was hoping we could all wish Blizzard, a beautiful white dog that they rescued, a speedy trip to the Bridge.  I know the family must be very, very upset.

    Thanks, everyone.

Lori, good thoughts and condolences to your co-worker's family.  I'm sure it's a great comfort to him knowing he has at least one person at work who genuinely empathizes with him.  In my experience, co-workers are mostly just politely sympathetic when a colleague loses a pet.  They will say a kind word or two, then go about the usual work routine, while the person who lost the pet is still deeply affected while trying to focus on daily tasks.  It's only those co-workers who are also true pet-lovers that can understand how that person may not be "himself" for a long time, despite outward appearances.  Knowing you're concerned for him and his family will be appreciated by him.

Run free Blizzard.  You have a beautiful name, one that must've suited your appearance perfectly!

tacran, you said exactly what I was thinking.  One of my coworkers lost her faithful friend, Woody, not long ago, and she hasn't been the same either:-((

Lori -- maybe you could print out the responses and just leave them in a folder on that person's desk.

I often think "going back to work" is the toughest thing.  Just knowing folks 'understand' but that you handled it totally without names may help.  I know weeks later, my 'routine' still isn't easy missing a Mostlie Sheltie who was here for 18 1/2 years.

Thank you everyone.  I wanted to make this get a little longer and then I will print it for them.

You go , Blizzard. I hear they just restocked the field next to the Bridge with field mice and squirrels. You've got your work cut out for you.

    Thank you!

I'm just seeing this... run free Blizzard!

And yes, resuming normal tasks is hard. I remember losing my cat when I was 15..no one understood my heart ache but my mom, and she thought nothing of it when she made excuses for me when I missed almost a week of school grieving.

My prayers are with Blizzards family.

Thank you, Trish.  I saw him today and I still can't figure out what to say!
