Sugar & Marlin have gone to Rainbow Bridge

Rainbow Bridge

The Rainbow Bridge is the theme of a work of poetic prose written some time between 1980 and 1992, whose original creator is unknown. The theme is of an other-worldly place to which a pet goes upon its death, eventually to be reunited with its owner.

Sugar & Marlin have gone to Rainbow Bridge

Both dogs were assisted to Rainbow Bridge this afternoon.

Sugar stopped eating on Sunday.  The tumor had grown noticeably, the entire left side of her face was swelling up.  I was able to hand feed her canned food, but I saw no point in letting the disease continue its progress.

Marlin has been hanging on for me the past few weeks.  He life consisted of spinning, eating and sleeping.  The only way to stop his frantic spinning and barking was to give him a sedative, which meant he was sleeping his life away.  Starvin' Marlin was hungry to the end, but could not find his food bowl without help.

We spent an hour in the backyard in the sunshine (with the others dogs as well) before we left for the vet.  Sugar dozed, Marlin spun, neither would come to me, I had to keep going to get them and pick them up to hold them.   Clearly, it was time.

Sugar Dugar and Marlin Darlin' I love you both so very much!  I am sorry we just couldn't help either of you any longer.

Sandie, I'm so sorry to hear about your loss of both Sugar and Marlin.  I know you were doing all you could for them.  As heartbreaking as it is to say goodbye, you were reading their signals and behaviors and made a decision that still had their very best interests in mind.  Hopefully there's some comfort in knowing they're arriving at the Bridge together -- familiar companions for each other, until they meet up with old (and new) friends they'll enjoy until you meet them again.

Hugs to you and the people and pets in your family and household who will miss them both.  Run free, Sugar and Marlin.  No more pain, no spinning, and lots of good things to eat.  Sandie, you have 2 sweet little white fluffy guardian angels watching over you now.

I'm so very sorry for your loss. I know that although it was absolutely the right thing to do, it still hurts like crazy. (((Hugs)))

Oh dear, what a sad time for you. I'm so sorry. You know you did the right thing for them though and they are now free from pain.

RIP Sugar and Marlin. No more horrible sore tumor for you Sugar and no more frantic spinning for you Marlin.

From my experience with the injured cat spinning, it is an awful thing. Big difference with Twirley Pearl though, was that she could get better and did, so putting up with it for awhile wasn't so bad.
