Rainbow Bridge

The Rainbow Bridge is the theme of a work of poetic prose written some time between 1980 and 1992, whose original creator is unknown. The theme is of an other-worldly place to which a pet goes upon its death, eventually to be reunited with its owner.

     They were baby goats born on monday. Our 4h leader is in boston with her daughter(she is in the hospital) so she had multiple people in and out of her house to take care of her animals. Someone let both of her dogs in without closing one in the other room and they killed the two baby goats. I am so sad as we were bottle feeding the babies. The mom had rejected them and domino was given to my 8 year old daughter the day they were born. What makes it worse is my daughter was with me when I found them.

    There is a lot of what if's going around in all of our heads right now. I know I cant change the outcome. They were supposed to go outside for the first time tomorrow, they never even got to run and play.

    That's terrible and especially for your daughter to see.  Scamper free little goats.

    Oh no, that is so sad.  There is plenty of pasture and room to run at the bridge!  Run free little babies!

    How very very sad ... yes, Annabelle & Domino will love to learn at the Bridge. 

    My sympathies for your family -- your daughter must be so terribly sad.  Is she doing ok?  That's the stuff of nightmares for long to come.  I will lift both of you up as well (Mom's need all the wisdom they can get at times like these.)

     Thank you so much Callie. Raevyn is doing ok. She is completely terrified of the 4H leaders dogs now and doesnt want to go to her house. I wont force her. She is just so sad, which completely breaks my heart.She said they were just babies and didnt get to grow up and that its not fair. She thinks that there is something wrong with white dogs now, the dog that did this was a great pyr and the one that took her rabbits was a white husky. She doesnt really care about prey drive, I  am trying to get her to understand that it's not the dogs fault, but that will take time.

    Erin, my mom is going through a /very/ similar thing right now and it is so hard for her... I posted giving you my sympathies but I wanted to say it again because this just happened to her and it's devistating... ((((hugs)))))

     Thank you so much. I read the thread and am so sorry for anyone who has been through that. Unfortunately for me I have to look at the dogs that did this every time I go to the 4H leaders house. (my daughter hasnt gone there since it happened, she can go over when she is ready)
