We lost our beloved Zeus on June 14 to a tumor on his spleen. He was 11. For a bulldog, that was his lifespan. Zeus was a bulldog rescue and we got him at age 7. He had been shuffled in 6 homes in 6 years as a military dog when the owner got shipped out. He came to us as his final home and what sweet boy he was. These rescued dogs are so grateful I just love them. I don't know if you all remember me, but I am Hollys mom. I posted Hollys bulldog problems and when she passed 4 years ago July 11 of a tumor on her heart, I posted here on the bridge page as I was inconsolable. I cried daily for 2 straight years even tho we got Zeus and the next week we got a bully puppy named Lola. Our other dog Red was inconsolable for Holly like me. Zeus was a wonderful senior boy who tolerated the puppys antics, and later when the puppy tried to usurp his position in the pack. We've been a big loving 3 dog pack for 4 years. This last month has been very very hard, losing Zeus on June 14 and Hollys anniversary on July 11. There is something about a bullie that is so special.
I have to share something special with you guys to dispell any idea there is not an afterlife. My vet is a Reikki practioner. After Zeus was gone and I was alone with him, she kept coming back in the room to check on us. She told me the spirit hangs around from 5 min to 1 hour. She told me at first she saw him with another being, she could not tell if it a was dog or human. She came back about 15 mins later and told me she saw him surrounded by many beings. I had asked Holly to come and get him so I think maybe she was first, unless it was his dog mother. SHe said he was not leaving so I said outloud - go ahead boy, go play with Holly - and right then the vet said he left the room. It took about 1 hour at that time. The vet told me it took 2 days for her dogs spirit to leave her. So I want you all to know, there is a bridge and our dogs are all there!
So out of all the the seemingly wrong choices I made in Zeus's last days, going to a different yet highly recommended vet who said it was not time, led up me back to my regular vets, to the opportunity to have Dr Covey, who only practices one day a week, to have this amazing experience.
So heres to you, Zeusy brave boy, we love you and I feel your presence so strongly on the patio. Until we meet again - you go have fun and run and play. Love you forever
PS - Thanks to the bulldog rescues and all rescues who save these wonderful furkids
