R.I.P. Jake

Rainbow Bridge

The Rainbow Bridge is the theme of a work of poetic prose written some time between 1980 and 1992, whose original creator is unknown. The theme is of an other-worldly place to which a pet goes upon its death, eventually to be reunited with its owner.

    R.I.P. Jake

Jake our 11 1/2 year old rottweiler died last night. He was fine one minute dead the next. He'd been having problems with arthritis. Jake was old for a rottweiler, he was my mama's baby so she's really upset about it. Jake had a famous ancestor. Back in January or Febuary he got really bad and we thought he'd have to be put down then. Jake was a good boy who loved kids and women in particular. Here's some pics these were taken in his younger and healthier days. RIP Jake. Jake 11-22-95 to 7-8-07.

Jake as a pup, the day we got him.

Jake and my little cousin Leslie. They grew up together.

    Being playful.

    Jake loved his picture taken.

Oh no, what a gorgeous boy too. I'm so sorry for your loss......run free Jake. Even though he's had to leave his favorite people, I bet he's in good company up there. : )

Aww, I love the car pic. Run free Jake.

Oh, what a beautiful boy he was!  I love the car photo, too.  You can see his playful spirit in his face.  He was clearly loved and cared for deeply, judging by his long life.  I know the heartache of losing a big baby like that - the hole is physically felt when 120+ pounds are suddenly no longer by your side.  I'll ask my boy, Tonka, to look for him at the bridge.  He's a big guy, too, and he surely has lots of kids around him to introduce to Jake.

Run free without pain now, Jake, and watch over your family as they adjust to the sad days without you. [sm=angel.gif]

I never come into this area of the forum because of the topic.

I came in tonight and saw this guy,and all I can say is that he looked like a great dog inside and out..I love the look on his face on the car..what a good boy and what lucky people you are to have had him in your lives.

You will all see him again someday..

I'm so sorry for your family's loss. May the joy of the many memories Jake brought remain strong but the grief fade.

That was a great pictorial tribute to Jake's life.  I'll be thinking about you these next few weeks.

I'm so sorry for your loss.   Jake seems to be the type that you can't help falling in love with at first sight - I know I did, just through the lovely photos you posted.
Run free sweet Jake.  You'll be missed but I'll be hoping that your family will find solace knowing that there's no pain where you are now and remembering all your happy years together.

It's just not fair that dogs have such a short life. [:(]

    Run free, beautiful Jake!

I couldn't have said that better.  It just isn't fair.  [sm=sad.gif]   But, imagine how badly we'd grieve if they were here as long as people are?

I love all the pics (what a cute baby he was!) and agree that the car pic shows so much personality... Jake was a very handsome boy.  I'm so very sorry for your loss.
