Emma's buddy

Rainbow Bridge

The Rainbow Bridge is the theme of a work of poetic prose written some time between 1980 and 1992, whose original creator is unknown. The theme is of an other-worldly place to which a pet goes upon its death, eventually to be reunited with its owner.

    Emma's buddy

Emma's buddy, Spar, went to the bridge, today. He was a ten year old Boxer.

Please say a prayer, light a candle, send happy thoughts, whatever, for his family. His mom, in particular, was very, very close to him. She bottle raised him from the one litter she bred. He was her protection dog, and her best friend. She'd had him all of her adult life.

I'm sorry to hear about the loss of Emma's friend, Spar.  His Mom is surely heartbroken and dealing with profound sadness facing his absence.  Having lost my dearest friend after nearly 10 years with him by my side, I know the pain well.

A very special 10 year old Boxer friend of ours went to the Bridge in early February.  She was a very sweet girl, and Spar will certainly find her as part of my Tonka's harem.  She had a lot of energy and loved to play (before she fell ill), so she will welcome a new Boxer friend to run with her now.   Tonka could never keep up with her - he was more of a side-line observer of her antics.

Run free, Spar.  Watch over your Mom and your friend Emma, too.

Jennie - I'm sorry to hear about Spar's passing and I can't even imagine the sadness of losing your beloved dog after having raised him from birth.  It must be very sad, but I hope her fond memories will soon give her comfort.  Run free Spar [sm=angel.gif]

I'm so sorry to hear about Spar.  Already knowing how tough it is to lose them... I can only imagine how close she became to him over the others.

We are so sorry to hear about Spar.
    God speed, good dog.

Thanks, everybody. I'm still all flustered, and not quite functional. I love him very much, too. He was a very special dog. It's funny, how close we were, because he didn't really take to people. The first time I was at their house, he climbed up in my lap and went to sleep. He was a precious boy.

Today was his Dad's birthday, and his parents' anniversary. I called to wish them a happy day, but I knew it wasn't. This has got to be horrible for them.

Hugs for Spar's family, and for Emma and you too.  "Aunties" and friends grieve, too, when a good dog goes.
