Socks, a remarkable old gal

Rainbow Bridge

The Rainbow Bridge is the theme of a work of poetic prose written some time between 1980 and 1992, whose original creator is unknown. The theme is of an other-worldly place to which a pet goes upon its death, eventually to be reunited with its owner.

    Diane, I'm so sorry.

    Sounds like she was remarkable.

My husband found her in a Chicago street when she was a 6 month old puppy and he was a young lonely cop going through a divorce.

And each providing each other with the wings to fly to a better place, both here and in the hereafter. The sentence I quoted from your post speaks volumes, much of it unspoken contentment and companionship.

"When you have done so unto the least of these, you have done so unto Me."

    Run free, Socks.

Callie compaired her Socks to the cranky, gruff school bus driver with a cough and a gravelly voice, who watched out for everybody and was everyone's favorite.

We always compaired our Socks to a feisty old black matriarch, dressed for church, chest out, pocket book over her arm, rounding up all the "chilluns" and telling them to "straighten up or she'll whup 'em up the side of the head!".  A whuff here and a cuff there.  She had everything in line without too much fuss.  Everyone knew that she was the queen.
