I wanted to take time away from the other post to share a little bit about Tequila's life. She's had such a life, always full of some sort of excitement or drama.
Here is a little bit about her life. She's been there to help raise (and give a good learning nip!) every Schnauzer that ever came through the house. She was there before any of the Schnauzers. She was a whopping 7 lbs but was clearly the queen bee of all of the dogs. She's had some great times, her favorite person was my grandmother, who she would lay with all day if given the choice, until she passed away a few years ago. Now we say they are together once again as grammy was really one of her favorite people.
She used to play so many fun games...she used to take all the toys in the house and pile them under the center area under the couch, and we'd go to clean it out and there'd be this little Tequila-sized hole surrounded by at least thirty toys.
She would play games with guests as well. One time when the cable man was over doing work, she ran off with one of his work gloves and we spent ages trying to find it. It was too funny, there she was just laying with it all to herself.
She was no innocent girl, though. She was a spitfire through and through, a true lady who was not afraid to say it like it was. She has put the fear of doG in every Schnauzer from a young age, so that they knew early on she was small, but mighty. She ruled the roost to be honest, at least for her first many years. She's the only dog in my life that bit me with intent, when I was a naive young'un and I did not read her clear "Please stop grooming me it hurts!!!" signs, and I only listened when she sank her canine right into the palm of my hand.
But she loved to play. She loved her toys and she loved life. It was rare to see her running around without some sort of toy in her mouth. Her goal in life was also to collect used Kleenex and keep it as her own. The only thing in life she ever tried to guard....she eventually stopped guarding, but it was still her favorite treat to find. She was so happy to go anywhere and loved almost everybody. She toughed through painful times, like when her other eye was dislocated from its socket during a play session outside when she got run into. Her eye was able to be put back in, and she did recover. She'd been attacked by another dog in which she was picked up by the ribcage and shaken, bruising her all over, but she endured. She had a cyst removed from her back leg a couple of years ago, and she toughed right through that as well. She only thing "little" about her was her size.
She was so big in heart, spirit, and courage.
Rest easy, baby girl.
You'll forever be in my heart.
I can only hope we all gave you even half as much as you gave back to all of us.
Just a wee baby....with the first Schnauzer we ever had. I was eleven.
