Thank you so much, everyone. We are sad, as you are when a loved one passes, but we are comforted by all the kind words we have had from friends and family, and knowing that we did the best thing for Penny.

Kivi is not looking for her, but he's been sooky and today he finally got to sleep not only in my study where Penny had been fiercely excluding him for the last couple of months, but in the coveted spot behind my desk chair.

My condolences to you and your partner, and the family and friends who knew Penny, too. I can't imagine how it feels to lose someone you grew up with - she was involved in probably all kinds of milestones in your life. I hope the memories of all those years together will bring you comfort when the tears and sadness start to lift a bit.
