Bye Beautiful Sam (mrstjohnson)

Rainbow Bridge

The Rainbow Bridge is the theme of a work of poetic prose written some time between 1980 and 1992, whose original creator is unknown. The theme is of an other-worldly place to which a pet goes upon its death, eventually to be reunited with its owner.

    Bye Beautiful Sam (mrstjohnson)

DH's brother lost their beloved Sam (Samantha) tonight.  It sounds like she had either a stroke or a seizure and died fairly quick.  She was 14 years old.  She was the first beagle I ever met and DH and I loved her so much.

Bye Sam, we will all miss you...

Here she is at our place right after we got Charlie...

Oh but ya see folks, Sam's probably *not* running ... yet.  Because she's a beagle.  And there is this whole great big huge HUGE meadow to sniff.  And things, and dogs, cats, and lots of animals ... well maybe animals she's never sniffed BEFORE and just TONS of lovely, wonderful, new, uninhibited THINGS ... to

    ***SNIFF***

Later ... she'll run.  But it's my bet she's in absolutely glory -- sniffing.  And look at those lovely, wonderful, expressive ears.  Sam ... go girl.  Have FUN!!!  You will be so missed.  I can tell, just by the look in your eye.

Thanks everyone.  I will never forget the first time I met her, when DH and I were dating we had gone to his brother's in Chicago for a visit.  After meeting everyone for the first time, I sat on the couch and Sam came right up to me and snuggled down next to me.  It was at that moment I knew we would get a beagle for sure.  As any good beagle, she LOVED the garbage and loved to lick your feet.  She was so sweet and so good with all kids.  I can't even imagine going over there and her not being there.  DH is so torn up.  He was living with his brother when they got her at 8 weeks old so it was like his dog too.  She loved DH so much and would never leave his side when he would go over there.

Callie - you are right, she will be sniffing, sniffing until her hearts content and will then sniff some more.

    Happy sniffing Sam!

Run free, Sam. And watch out for Misty. She can be a bit aloof. Give her some space and she will come up to you.
