Shedra

Rainbow Bridge

The Rainbow Bridge is the theme of a work of poetic prose written some time between 1980 and 1992, whose original creator is unknown. The theme is of an other-worldly place to which a pet goes upon its death, eventually to be reunited with its owner.

I know, Diann, you still miss her terribly and you will always miss her. They give us so much - make our houses homes and our lives richer.  You are among friends - we understand how much it hurts.

It's hard to mourn the loss of a lifetime but you will see her again when it is time.

    Run free.

It is a rare and beautiful thing to share your life with a special dog for that long.  You were very lucky and so was she.  I'm sorry for your loss.

Thank you all for your replies. It helps so much to know there are friends out there that care.Shedra was extra special to us.We moved to Australia from South Africa nearly four years ago and we brought her accross with us.She went blind at the age of 9 and was so brave.
We miss her so much but it helps knowing she can now see again and run free!

It is a tribute to you and to the wonderful care you gave her that Shedra lived such a long life.  Many people would not have taken the extra effort you did to accommodate her blindness, not to mention taking her with you on a cross-continent relocation!  You were clearly a devoted and loving friend to her.  You were blessed to share your lives with each other.

I'm so sorry for your heartbreak; I know how awful it is.  We lost our boy 4 months ago, and the pain is still very raw.  I can't imagine how you're feeling, adjusting to her absence after having her in your life for so many years!  That's more than some human kids are in their parents' homes!  Our boy was nearly 10 when he died, and the years with him flew by much too quickly.

Take care, and run free pretty Shedra!
