Kelly

Rainbow Bridge

The Rainbow Bridge is the theme of a work of poetic prose written some time between 1980 and 1992, whose original creator is unknown. The theme is of an other-worldly place to which a pet goes upon its death, eventually to be reunited with its owner.

    Kelly

Just writing this down do not really know why-we had to put our 18 year old rescue dog Kelly down six months ago.  I have two other rescue dogs that live with me and keep me busy so probably did not deal with the loss of Kelly.  Today for some reason I put a picture of Kelly in a frame and put it up in my kitchen window, she loved to be in the kitchen with me while I cooked (might of been all the treats she got).  Seems alittle silly, but even though I feel sad it is also omehow comforting to me and respectful to her.
    Thanks for listening.

There is never a need to explain why you feel emotional or want to talk about Kelly no matter how long ago you lost her.  It is certainly saying something about how you cared for her because she was 18 years old.

I'm sorry for your loss.  Run free, Kelly [sm=angel.gif]

    (((Hugs))) for you.

What a wonderful life she must have had with you. [:)]

Seems like the perfect tribute to me - chosen to remind you of and take comfort in memories of a special ritual with Kelly.

So sorry for your loss of this sweet, special old gal.  Be at peace, Kelly.

Her long life and the good memories that you have of her being in your kitchen while you cooked is a testiment to you!  Dogs are wondrous creatures who give us so much and that spot in your kitchen represents the care and dignity you gave her back.
    (((( hugs )))))

I do sympathize with you...I had to put my beloved Lhasa, Muffy, down 4 weeks ago due to diabetes and liver failure. I look at her pic, collar and tag and cry and cry...I have had dogs for over 45 years, but I think I was the closest to Muff Muff.
We did adopt a rescue dog a few weeks ago, but she is totally AFRAID of us!
Won't come when called and hates to be held...the vet and our trainer both said it will take time...BUT I DON'T WANT TO WAIT! I want a lap dog who will give me love...actually I want my Muffy back!  This is breaking my heart...many hugs to you - I feel like you are here and we are  hugging and crying together!

kelly seems like she was a wonderful dog, not many dogs live to be 18, I am sure this has to do with the great care you gave her.

    Run free Kelly!

I'm sorry for your loss... Kelly must have had a wonderful life with you!  It's not every day that we hear of a dog making it to 18.  It's never silly to feel the way you are feeling.  With a loss comes a big hole in your heart.
