Maybe we will redefine "heated" or "passionate." I, for one, did not like threads that degenerated into name-calling. OTOH, I have a hard time not stating something as I see it. Or accepting a point of debate against something that I don't see as debatable. More of my accursed upbringing. Mean what you say and say what you mean. And all that other old-fashioned stuff. I can see having a debate where each person strives to clearly state their point. But I also like some of the silliness that spins off of a debate and more than one thread headed for disaster took a side rail on a funny thing that diffused the "heat." FWIW, I have seen debates at another forum that make the worst here look tame. Name-calling that was harsher than "manipulator" and "back-pedaller", taunting, demanding a credential showdown at the dog park in Plano, Tx., even the moderator explicitly allowing it to go on to watch the train-wreck. The worst of it was that a guy had violated TOS in that forum but the mod allowed him to remain in order to specifically eat popcorn and watch the show.
And Anne, I'm still waiting for my red ink. I must be doing something wrong. Don't lose faith. I'll get it, yet.[
