Who's on First?! - Mod Thoughts

    Hey guys-

I had an idea I'd like for us all to implement, if you agree it's worthwhile.  I find we're often duplicating the work of another mod, because the work gets done, but the communication gets dropped.  I'm trying, but I know as recently as this week, I sent a message looking for help, then went ahead and did it, without communicating back to Karen that I'd done it.  SOOOOOo, to mitigate some of that:

IDEA - when we address an AR, could we change the title to say "Complete".  OR, if we feel other input/follow-up is necessary, we can note "Input needed" or something else to say "look here", or "Go to Mod Den - this one's become a big problem".

Benefit - saves each of us from opening every AR three times, saves us from opening the multiple ARs for the same issue.  If the title/header says "Complete", we don't have to look at it.

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

IDEA that does not require agreement by all - Subscribe to the Mod Den & Reporting Forums, so that we get an e-mail when there's a problem.  Maybe you guys already do this?

Benefit - I think most of us check our e-mail more often than trolling the forum, esp when we're busy like the last few weeks.  Gives us a chance to ignore the junk temporarily, but gets immediate action on the really bad stuff.

Thoughts?  Other ideas??  When we're this busy, communication and stream-lining are beneficial to all.

OOoooh! I like that idea Paige, often you just see a row of AR's and short of looking at the date, you're not sure if you need to check each one. I can see that as a big benefit.  So instead of leaving  "DONE" or whatever in reply, just edit the title?  GREAT!! I am big time in favor of that.  God knows I'm not good at checking each AR, I lack the proper attention span!

Also, I'd like to apologize.  I've been really busy of late.  I know we are all busy and fitting in modding when and where we can.  Since it's not a paid job... that's just the way it's gotta be.  But, half the time I'll deal with something and not finish the job in its entirety, because I'll get busy elsewhere.  I know I'm guilty of this, and I'm sorry.  So, to prevent that in the future, I'd like to propose an idea... along the lines of what you came up with Paige.

So, in light of communication, lol, maybe put edit the title to "NEED HELP" or something on the AR and just say "I edited the post, don't have time to PM." or whatever... so, that we can all pick up each other, get the pertinent things done and get to the other stuff when time allows.

What do you guys think?  I'm thinking we are definitely on a roll hear and this is a great way to effectively communicate.

I had not subscribed to the AR/Mod's Den, but I will now.  Good idea, Paige :)

Thanks ladies smooches to the dog faces!!

works for me and I see you done one Paige!  Excellent.

So how do you subscribe to the AR and Mod's Den?  I can't be bothered to look for if you could just point me in the direction, I'd appreciate it.  Sorry for my laziness LOL

also Lani how did you do that sticky?  They want one for the Halloween swap and I tried and it didn't 'stick'

     Yay Paige, thanks! :)

I stickied the Halloween thread. First you create a new thread, stickied from the start (don't forget to sticky it when you create it), then you join the old thread to it.  Voila, stickied.  Gina wrote me and let me know how to get around the age old bug.  Stupid buggy system.

To subscribe up along the top by the AR's (look to the right of the AR's) there is another box, in that list, there is "subscribe to a forum".

Good luck with Bugs tomorrow!  I'll be thinkin' of you!!!  Did you find a good vet? Or how'd you find a good radiologist??

Thanks I think we will need it - Xray isn't until 10:30 - it is 8 and he is like hello do you remember me I need food!

Lani I went through a ton to try and locate the best place to do the  xrays.  I went to the dog show and got no great recommendations.  Finally got a name through a friend who has a friend that breeds labs.  Called the place up and was talking to the receptionist who at some point asked how much he weighed and I said 105 and she said well the first thing you need to do is get him to lose weight.  I was taken aback that she could determine this without knowing what breed/mix, size, or seeing him.  Scratch them off the list.

Joined the Yahoo CHD forum and a couple of people said use the vet school.  But then was chatting with one of my clients post session and mentioned looking for a good place for the Xrays and she says my brother works in a specialty practice, give them a call.  They are all totally dedicated to orthopedics.  This is also the practice that my neighbor used for her golden's knee surgeries.  So that is what I decided to do.  I had called them and the vet school and felt better about these guys.  Only slight concern is about their desire to 'fix' everything surgically.  That may be unfair on my part but if you go to a surgeon that is what they are going to want to do.

I at this point, feel that we are going to find out how bad his hips are not find out they are OK.  I've been doing a ton of research and won't be surprised if his hips are iffy, have arthritis and perhaps we are dealing with a spur in there.  I can't see that after all the rest if it were soft tissue we would still have this intermittent issue.  Who knows.

I am a nervous wreck to say the least.

Well, it's over now.... and I'm anxious for a report.

My advice is if they want to do surgery to repair, get a 2nd opinion first.  I'm sure their xrays are digital, ask for them on a CD if you don't have them already.  I'd love to see them i'm no radiologist, but man have I done a ton of research into it.  I can't say anything medically obviously, but I can at least see if they had correct positioning.   I've heard ALL KINDS of stories where a dog needed surgery, turns out the dog was just fine, but they didn't properly position the dog.  It can lead to all kinds of problems.  (I did my research into correct positioning, Logan's prelims were done incorrectly. He was fine either way, but it freaked me out a little cause they can fail you because someone didn't know what they were doing.)  You've done a bunch of research too, that is so good. You know the questions to ask and aren't following advice blindly.  Man... what a time.  Hang in there, Karen. I'm hoping for good news!!

In regards to the trouble you had finding a place, sounds like you went through the gauntlet but a place that specializes in orthopedics is probably gonna be very good.  Good job.  And what an idiot. 105 lbs, so lose weight?  Umm.... what's a GD supposed to weigh?!

Grrr... i'm here, can't wait to hear from you!!

Lani I posted on FB and updated in the Health thread - hips are FINE!  Its a partial ACL tear and a small lower back issue.  They recommend a tplo - I'll start my next round of research now, .................
