thinking about minors as members

This is a VERY good idea...but it would need to be attached to voluntary releasing of age because otherwise age verrification is a huge hassle.

I think The Company should really consider it, from a "cover your hiney" standpoint...and if they need to know why they should consider it...Kate forward the big wigs the sex chat started by the 16y/o.

I'm wondering though, if it isn't a bigger liability.  When you flag a minor you are drawing attention to them as a child and that can draw predators to them in particular.  When everyone is the same, it's harder to find the minors on a big site.  We have had a known online child predator on this site once already, I'm sure there are more.

I think we should maybe just have stricter guidelines on sex/drug/ANYTHING illegal policies.  If this is a family friendly site then we need to put the kabash on anything sexual, cause otherwise are we really "family friendly"??

Also, anything illegal needs to be edited. If she's openly discussing smoking pot, I think we need to get rid of it. What do you think?

AMEN TO THAT!!!

... it's ridiculous that anyone is enabling her quite honestly. She's alluded to being kicked out of high school for illegal activities and then we have Ron egging her on saying she could be a 44 yrs old FBI Agent (Which I *STILL* do not understand WHY that would be a good thing....((rolls eyes)))  ... i mean it's a big mess.

I think we should ixnay sex, delete the references to illegal activity and give her a vacation (since that will put her over the limit) to let her know we are serious. 

smoking pot isn't illegal everywhere tho. This forum is GLOBAL. LOL.

I can see both sides of this, but I have to agree with it being a BIGGER problem to point out the minors .  Questionable stuff we can always edit, but especially with a minor/minors who have already demonstrated that they have little common sense I don't think it's a good idea to point them out - we have no idea who's reading this stuff. 

So, here's what I think we need to do:

I'm going to write to misstrouble, and any subsequent member who presents the same problem, reminding them of basic internet safety - not to say where they live, even a general area etc and especially not to give off a vibe of willingness to discuss sex.  There has already been one sex offender that I know of on this forum, who knows how many others are looking. 

Second, we do need to be hyper-vigilant about people discussing sex and drugs in any way that could be questionable.

Third, I'm going to request that "no discussion of illegal activities" be written in some form into the T&Cs, and also that ALL members should be wary of what they post because minors can be reading it - both ones we know of and ones we don't.  That gives us a solid, black and white rule to point to if we need to edit for such an infraction.

Yes... but where SHE lives it's illegal.  I think it's pretty much illegal in most countries people would be posting from. 

Look I dont care that she smokes pot, at this point I don't know if she has two brain cells to rub together... so, what's a little pot? ;) ... i'm not judging the act. I am concerned that dog could get in trouble for condoning a known minor pursuing illegal activities.

I have no problem with your proposal...I think it is a good compromise.

I like the more definite rule, when it's ambiguous it causes problems.

 I do agree, Gina, that it would be great if we could offer some bigger kind of protection...but we can't. :(

Sounds great - I know that some members don't look at profiles - I tend to - but I really am fed up with MissT and people responding as if she were an adult - I have to believe that a good deal of our members don't realize/remember that she is 16 when they respond.

And admittedly she is under my skin I think it is an issue for any of the minors on here
