    How accomodating should we be

as to requests to "sticky this, do this poll, update that post, etc"? I am speaking of one member mostly but in general...can we ever reach a point where we can say no?

Hmmm, what member would that be?  She PM'd me yesterday evening to ask how she could make a poll herself.  I replied saying she couldn't, asked what she wanted polled and said the earliest I'd be able to post a poll was several hours later.  Yesterday was a comedy of errors from start to finish for me, and by the time I got home from my SIL's birthday party I just went to bed, so I couldn't do it.  Came back this morning to 2 more PM's from her, telling me what she wanted polled and asking for her previous poll to be updated because it hadn't got many responses, which she thought was due to the options available.  I've had a client being an idiot today, so I check back again just now and I have ANOTHER pm saying she'd sent it to you in case I was too busy.

We are NOT her personal slaves.  We're not anyone's personal slaves.  In terms of stickying, it needs to be a note from us or something of benefit to many members.  Polls are something I'd like to discuss with Jaime but I absolutely think there needs to be a point at which we say no.  With this particular member, we know if we DO say no that she'll post something about wanting to do a "real" poll but mods not letting her etc so I am also going to construct a careful note telling her that we need time to devote to ALL aspects of forum moderation - not just catering to her needs.

    Thank you Kate.

I do think the Poll function could be abused if they could all do it...so we should be careful there. But in this instance she is not even doing these polls for the forum,...but for her website! I am tired of it. *grump*

For her WEBSITE?  Are you kidding me?

    • Gold Top Dog

yes have a gander at what she sent me...

"The first poll you posted for me went well but I can clearly see that I didn't list enough dog foods to get a good survey of what I was looking for. I was wondering if you can "unsticky" or "delete" that one and create & post & sticky this one instead:

    POLL: Dry Kibble [Brand Loyalty]

    • Natura
    • Natural Balance
    • Eagle Pack
    • Blue Buffalo
    • Nutro

I'm really eager and excited to see these results, it will help a lot with the Nutrition part of my website & article"

Yeah erm she just prodded me AGAIN about her stupid polls. I am thinking one a MONTH from her...is plenty?

She also filed a feedback complaint saying we weren't getting to it fast enough, basically.  Sigh.  Note is almost composed, stay tuned...
