This thread bears watching

I was just coming in to post about this.  Hopefully people will see it for what it is and not rise to the bait, but I am not holding my breath. 

I too was going to post.  Gina beats me to it AGAIN!

I will say privately that I actually do have some concerns about Rats animal collection and her mental health issues, but that is absolutely not something to be discussed on a public forum by a bunch of strangers.  And I don't like one bit that a new thread has been started.

Exactly. There are things that worry me about her sitch and I freely admit that...but she does not deserve the treatment she is getting. If they truly wanted to help her they would...and if they truly want to make her feel horrible and pick on her...well...they are.

I am disappointed, but not totally surprised, in some members here at the forum of late...I am sure snownose will be right on that thread any second now.

Here's Amanda's request to move the thread on animal hoarding...a mental illness that causes people to obtain and neglect animals, not specifically dogs, often resulting in horrible conditions and AC seizure of said animals...BACK to General Chat.

I will leave this with Admin, you two do what you think best...personally I think she is full of it...she wants to play at Ratsicles expense...and this innocent "I just wanna know" attitude doesn't fly with me. I think it should stay where it is. But Admin has final say.

Well, Gina, the little I AM A MEMBER thing broke up officially, but,they still band together.  And, that's not much we can do about them except to edit the heck out of them when they are out of line. 

There are a couple of "groups" and yeah, that's one of them....they can kill a thread pretty quickly.

Gina....that fake-innocence thing gets right up my nose.  These are intelligent people, they know what they are doing.  They aren't being inflammatory by accident and it's insulting to us when they act like they think we can't see through it. 

Thank goodness for Anne.  She posted in a very factual, non emotional manner.  Well, aside from her snide comment about rarely finding horders on a message board!

I absolutely will add my vote to NOT move this thread back to GC.  The fact that she brought up the animal communicator thread speaks absolute volumes.  These people are royal jerks.

Snownose just joined in, and makes some comments that are pretty transparent with regards to Ratsicles...nothing that I think can be edited in the context of the thread, but it's fairly obvious what she's talking about.

I forgot to say before that I too have concerns about Ratsicles and her animals.  I am the *first* person to have sympathy for someone who's life is heavily impacted by a medical condition, but I can't relate to her attitude to animals.  One minute she is saying she has no money (and again I sympathise...there but for the grace of the deity of your choice...) but then she is taking on another animal.  Frankly, the thread last week about the kittens was the last straw for me.  She gets these cats that turn out to be bad outdoor cats which is what they were intended for, but after a week she is so attached to them that rather than give them up to a home that does not contain dogs that will kill them given half a chance..which TWO of her dogs will (I think she is rehoming Ogre, but that still leaves Culley) she decided that keeping those kittens in ONE ROOM, where the dogs can't go, for the rest of their lives is a good option.  I like cats and I don't think that is any kind of life for them so I personally have a hard time believing she always considers what is best for the animal in question, because that certainly isn't.  I can see why people were worried about the pibble puppy she found, since she couldn't give up kittens she'd had for a week and by her own admission she's not a "cat person".  I'm not excusing the way people expressed their concern, but I can understand the sentiment behind it.

I'm not sure we can.  They aren't actually naming her, they are discussing a scientifically recognised problem and they aren't actually saying anything editable.

I'm open to ideas, but while I dislike what they are doing I am uneasy about squashing a conversation that could (likely will) offend someone because theoretically that is true for EVERY thread on this board with the exception of maybe the ones in "Photos for Sharing".  Someone's always going to disagree, someone's always going to get offended.  They are aiming it at Ratsicles and that's obvious, but it's going to be hard to nail them on it.

It's 1 am, my house is cold and my warm bed is calling.  I'll check it in the morning. 

I finally got bothered enough by this that I threw them a bone.....in the form of me.  Lets see where they go with that one.

Props to Ratsicles...although it's clear that she knew the thread was aimed at her, she didn't rise to the bait.  For all her apparent problems, she's demonstrated more maturity on that thread than some others.

I told Bevo I'd have Admin look at her thread to see if it was a General Chat issue or an Advocacy issue. Just bumping to that end.
